Awful experience

Good Shepherd is HORRIBLE!! Stay away!! They treat the family with disrespect, we asked for side rails on mom’s bed and they never got them yet they grumbled that she tried to get out of bed. They constantly drugged her after we told them not to! They lied to us over and over. The night she died we sat in her room for 3 hours and were NEVER asked if we needed anything. There was another lady in her room so we didn’t have our privacy. That lady crawled out of bed and laid on the mat alongside of her bed like a dog, again no side rails. We donated my mom’s clothes and they refused them and made us come and get them. STAY AWAY!!

The atmosphere in Good Shepherd Services was really good. There are lots of fellows that do a nice job over there, so the staff is doing pretty good. They have a salon, an exercise room, and a gathering area for get-togethers. It's a really nice place.

My mother is in Good Shepherd right now, and she has decided that she'll stay where she's at. It's attached to the nursing home that she was in. We chose it because she was there already and getting to know the people. She had collapsed and went into the nursing home that's there, and it was decided that she could not go home. So when her time at the nursing home was up, they had a room for her, and she just stayed there. The staff was wonderful. She thinks the food is a little carbohydrate-heavy, but besides that, she likes it. They have a lot of activities. They have a lot of entertainment. They have daily gatherings, either bingo or different crafts and stuff. Because it's a nursing home and assisted living, it's a big, sprawling place. She has a mile of hallways that she can walk every day. Her primary care physician is in the Prevea Clinic that is attached by a hallway, so she walks all over the place. If she ever needs to see the doctors, she just walks down the hallway. She doesn't have to go out because Wisconsin winters are pretty bad.
