I visited this facility

Emerald Bay Retirement Community was my number one choice. The facility was amazing. Absolutely amazing, friendly, bright, and everything you need. I was especially impressed with their rehab. It was like a great big area that they do rehab. They seemed to have a lot of care for their patients. They just don't let them sit in the room. They could take care of them right there, which was very attractive. The staff who toured us was Ali, and she did a wonderful job. They don't just give you the shiny tour, they answer hard questions. Parking was a big thing because my father could keep his car there, and he is still very able to drive and stuff. The tour was wonderful. They showed me whatever I wanted. The rooms were very nice. I was a little surprised that the rooms were a little smaller, but they were very updated, and all of them had a whole wall of windows, which was nice. So the layout was very nice.

I visited this facility

When I got to Emerald Bay Retirement Community, it felt like I had to stand in line for a long time and I wasn't greeted very well. I stood there and there were other people that were there first. I finally said to the lady that I was not there to see a resident, but for a tour and that's when she said to come with her. So, they took me on a tour and I was not impressed. There was hardly anybody there. There were a couple of people that I said hello, but I did not feel like the residents were happy to be there. It was not as friendly and as welcoming. The rooms were not as beautiful and as nice as the ones in the other facility I looked at. The grounds were OK. The lady let me know that I could not hide money from her and that if I were hiding money for the facility, she would find it. She said that to me and that did not give me a good impression. I think their staff needs to be a little bit more friendlier and a little bit more open. The bathroom in the apartment had these open shelves and to me, I thought that that would look messy with all these personal things on there. I would have liked to have seen it more enclosed.

I visited this facility

We liked the location of Emerald Bay Retirement Community, its cleanliness, and that it's a newer facility. The staff was very courteous. The apartment was very nice. I saw a table full of residents playing cards. They also had exercises, some activities, spaces, some family areas, a nice common library, and seating. I thought that was all quite nice. They have a little coffee bar area down by the lobby as well.

If you want a place to have your parent stay, don’t go there. Once you are out of money and on Medicaid you are out. Sad. Terrible as she ran out of money they kept putting her in smaller rooms. They only care about money.

I visited this facility

Emerald Bay Retirement Community was probably our first choice, but they didn't have memory care available. We needed that in a rush. They had a nicer facility, and they had more outdoor space. I think those are the two biggest things. The rooms seemed really nice. I would say the facility itself and the outdoor space were the big separators. The staff who took me around was really helpful. She was helpful on the tour and also with the process of getting things set up and that kind of stuff. They had a gazebo. They had a nice walking path that went around a lot of trees and had a lot of shade. Those were the two bigger things.

I visited this facility

We were pretty impressed with Emerald Bay Retirement Community, probably the biggest thing is that it has continuing care, and it's just a beautiful place. The entrance was very impressive and the people were very nice. Ali was the one who showed us around and she did a great job. The apartments or the units in there were very, very pleasant. It looks like it would be a very pleasant place to live. The level of care goes all the way through to life. You can stay there for a lifetime, and they'll take care of you however your care increases. They have live entertainment come in occasionally, they have an activity room with puzzles, books, games, and they have an area where there is a pool table, and people can get together and play cards. The therapy would be right there onsite, and there's a nice patio outside for the summertime. The meals, cleaning, cable TV, and heating were all included in their price. The staff was very good to work with.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm in Emerald Bay Retirement Community. They also have an Alzheimer's dementia department. It's a big complex. They have four wings and they're very nicely done. I like the floor plan of it, better than anyone that I've seen. All of the places are running with a problem of getting help, not just this one. Staffing is very, very short. The food is good, but it's too salty and we brought this up many times. They serve a lot of pasta, spaghetti, noodles, a lot of chicken, and salty ham. They've got good people working here. They're excellent and if you're fortunate enough to get them, it's good. If not, you get people that are not good. They've got some very good staff but they've got some really bad ones, too. Their med techs or passers are excellent. The RAs are not very good. They have a lot of activities. Every Friday, they have happy hour, they have bingo every day, entertainment once or twice a month, they have manicures for the women, rock painting, and fall decorations that they make. There's always something going on.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The staff here at Emerald Bay Assisted Living is very caring. I'm fairly independent but I could press a button anytime and they are quick to come in and help me with medication, moving around, or just anything that I would need. They're wonderful. I have nice window views and I see birds, I love birds. The place is beautiful, there's a big fireplace in the center of the living area and you could sit around it day and night, all year round, it's very comfortable. We're supposed to be eating in the dining room and it's so beautiful. Each table is set up so that you eat with the same people, you're surrounded with people that you know so that's nice. I just haven't been able to get to dinner very much because I haven't felt very well but they're very good to bring a tray to my room. The food is good too. For the money you pay, the place is very wonderful.

Mom moved into Emerald Bay recently, and so far, it's good. The administrator was very helpful to us, and when we needed help we were able to get it. It's a beautiful facility, her apartment was brand-new, very clean, and very nice. She liked the food, it was good, very appetizing, and the people in the room seemed to be enjoying it too.

I visited this facility

Angelus Village was gorgeous. It was like if you went to the fanciest, nicest, brand new hotel. We had lunch there, and the food was wonderful. The dining room was beautiful; it was just like walking into a dream. But I am not ready to get away from my house, and I don't know if I will be able to afford this one. It was expensive. Everybody was very nice. There was a lot of stuff going on.

I visited this facility

Angelus Village was very new. But it was quite far away from where we all live to go visit my aunt. So it was more of the location. But the place was very nice. The rooms were lovely. The staff was nice. They didn't have many residents yet. They were so new. There were very few residents in a very big place, so it seemed very empty and lonely. It was very lovely and beautiful.
