"The rooms at this facility are somewhat small, and almost all of them have two patients staying in each room. There doesn't seem to be a lot of privacy for the residents. Not just the elderly are taken care of here, there are also patients recovering from illness or surgeries here, as well as severely handicapped people. The staff seem to genuinely care about the patients here, and the most of them are very experienced. Aside from the size of the facility, which is the only negative aspect, it is a very clean place that has been decorated nicely. Whenever we would call to check on our father, the staff was always very polite, and gave us the information that we were seeking. All of them treated my father very kindly, helping him eat, keeping him clean, and giving him company. "

"Manchin Assisted Living seemed to be alright. It just had an odor to the place that I didn't care for, and it was more like a nursing home. The rooms were pretty nice though and every room had its own nice private bathroom. The staff was very nice too and very knowledgeable, and the dining area looked clean."

"I was very impressed with the equipment the facility had at their disposal and the level of care they could provide with said equipment. The patients there seemed to be overall content of course with a few being disgruntled. I spoke to some of the staffing to see what kind of care they were expected to provide. The level of care was notably good, however, the number of staffing on nightshift and the total number of staffing was considerably low. There is too little staffing on night shift to provide the same level of care given during the day. I came to the decision to keep my current job for other reasons not having to do with that facility. I question myself about that, however, my situation demands I stay where I am. "

"Serenity Hope was a very country setting, and it's a very small place with only eight residents, which was what I liked about it. The people who owned it were very, very friendly and very efficient. The rooms were kind of small, but they're private and it's a nice little place. They have three covered porches and the residents seemed to be very satisfied with what they fed them."

"Actually, we've placed her at Clarksburg Rehab. We just liked that it was close to the hospital, and they had a rehab center to help her with her rehab needs. They are friendly, and they have been very sweet to grandma, but they also know what they are doing. The only thing I don't like about the rooms is that she has to share a bathroom with three other ladies. It is like a Jack and Jill bathroom, so I think that that could be something they could improve on, and the food is average. It smells very clean. "

"The nurse and the owner of Sisters Elder Care LLC went to where my husband was to interview him, talk with him, and talk with the people that had been caring for him, which I thought was very good. That's the first time that's ever happened, to have them go to the place and look at him before they accept him. So, I was impressed with that and then when he was to move in, they had everything ready for him. It was all done. There are so many things that I like about this placement so far. One is there is somebody with my husband at night, awake and watching, in case anyone needs anything or gets upset. The first couple of nights, he didn't sleep there, which he had in the other home, and was up all night. They went in and they sat with him and talked with him until he went back to sleep. Then they started trying to figure out how to help him with that, and finally, we figured out with him what was keeping him awake, and once that was corrected, he started sleeping through the night within 2 or 3 days. They were just very attentive. They have individual bedrooms. So that's one person in a bedroom. They have a maximum of eight people there. I was very impressed with the staff they had there. I like the setting. It's a very cheerful, happy, and pleasant place. They pay a lot of attention to the residents. They have made a big difference in him in only a couple of weeks. They do a lot of individual attention and they also have an open plan for the main area so that they can watch on big television, play games, or go there and watch what they're doing. Like if they're cooking for dinner or so forth. They can go over and look. They just have so many things. They have healthy snacks that the residents can get themselves if they want it. They try to help people. They've already helped my husband who was not reading, was not doing anything, and was not talking to anybody. Now, they have everything ready for him. He's reading the paper again. He's working on puzzles. He's playing checkers with one of the people that's there. There's a variety of things for them to do daily. They're close to Bridgeport, within driving distance and also to Fairmont. So, within three to twenty miles, those towns are located. Each person has a bedroom and it is decorated as to whatever that person is interested in. It has a TV in the room, a desk that they put in for my husband to use his computer, and a window in the room that they can look out to. It's pretty well planned for that person. You can bring anything you want to decorate the room. They have a nurse on call who can be there within three minutes no matter what time of the day. They've already brought my husband's sugar to normal. So, their food is healthy. There are little snacks all around the room that the residents can help themselves with that are healthy snacks like yogurt or fresh fruit and different things. They have very balanced meals. He eats everything that's on his plate."

"The atmosphere at Arbors was good. It was very clean, bright and shiny, and the people that work there seem to be very knowledgeable. They were doing a fine job. My mother was happy in there. They have lots of activities like sing-alongs, movies, bingo, and other recreation. They even take residents on outside trips. "

"Sometimes being at home alone is scary for patient, friends and family. What better than to stay in your own small town facility cared for by local people. That is what we have with Cortland Acres here in Thomas, WV. With top notch administrators, physical therapists and nurses who could ask for more? How about the local GP working in the building next door. Yep, we have it. And a station of the ambulance crew shares the parking lot. Because we are a small community all the workers live close and know all the patients or soon do. Cortland is a loving extension of our community. "

"The staff at Pleasant Acres Christian Haven was nice. I liked that they seem to know what they were doing. The rooms and furniture were pretty good. They looked clean and neat. Although it's not quite as nice as some of the others and it looks more like a nursing home, it's organized and they have some activities to do. It was not real big. There are just about 12 or 14 rooms. They have an outdoor seating area, but nothing much extra."
