My brother is in Emerald Care. He likes it there. He shares a room with two other people. They have entertainment, three meals a day, and snack machines if you want some soda or potato chips or something. You can bring them snacks if you want. They do their laundry. He said he has not one bad thing to say about it. Every day, he gets exercise on machines. He was doing bad when he was by himself, falling down and all, but now he's using a walker and the swelling on his feet has gone down. He gets to have three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff is really helpful and friendly. He said they treat him well. The main staff told me that he likes to go to bingo especially when they're having snacks. They have other games. His room seemed kind of small and he just had his bedside dresser. I think he had a closet, but he was in the middle bed. He likes being in a room with other people because he can visit other roommates. They helped a lot. I'm still in the process of working with them on certain things.

I would say this facility was average in appearance but highly rated when it comes to care. At the time of my great-grandmothers stay, the walls were being painted in the main entry areas. This was an extremely welcome change, because the current colors were sickly pastel green and yellow shades, kind of like what you would see in a bad nursery setup. The color scheme in the resident rooms was neutral and rather cold feeling, definitely not very homey or relaxing. Of course these are just cosmetic complaints and from what I hear are being updated.The staff and nurses were always kind and helpful. Any questions that I may have asked regarding my grams health, diet or personal needs were always answered and I felt as if they took a personal interest in my great-grandmother. For instance, they knew her favorite activity was bingo and the staff would make sure she was always taken into the common room to play. Another nice amenity that Emerald Care has is its very own beauty parlor onsite. Becky offered cuts, styles, coloring and manicures & pedicures for the residents. This really made my great-grandmother feel special and pampered.
