My parents are in the Meridian at Stone Creek. It is a decline in the level of service. And just the fact that they've had 11 directors there in seven years, tells me that things are in very bad shape. There is poor and inconsistent management. There are buttons in each cottage that when Mom and Dad moved in, they needed to press by 10:00 am. They don't. Nobody cares anymore. They don't follow up with that. They still do some activities, like groups going out to lunch. And there's a van that will take them to grocery shopping and doctor's appointments within a ten-mile radius. They occasionally have in the dining room if there's a big meal, like the big sporting events, they'll go, open it up into a happy hour that has a one-drink limit with watered-down drinks. They have a place to do a puzzle. There's no movie theater, no pool, and no exercise room. The standard menu has been reduced from eight different options, there are about five different options now, and their daily options have gone from two entree options to only one. I expect the waitstaff to turn over quite frequently, but the cooks are turning over 2 or 3 times a year now. And so the quality of the food is inconsistent right now. It's not all that great. The facility itself is a five, and the pathways, and the grounds are kept up nicely. The building itself, and the physical plans are very, very nice. It is all of the infrastructure that, who's there to do the repairs, who's there to answer calls, who are they following through on, just the stuff that contractually they said they would provide when mom and dad moved in, those things are not being provided. Their annual increase is about 9% including in the COVID years. They need to improve their management.

My mother-in-law has moved into Meridian at Stone Creek. The grounds are beautiful. The whole facility looks like a lodge, but it's very warm and inviting. The rooms are very spacious. Each has their separate room and a shared bathroom, so they have their own private space, and that was a selling point for us. The staff has been very, very good, and very attentive. If we have questions, they've been great to answer, and at times they even called us, which we appreciate. There are so many activities that would be hard to describe on a daily basis, but I know they have daily bingo and reading and games. Really nice, well-balanced meals they provide for them. They even have their salon onsite, which is really nice. They can come and get their hair washed or styled or cut. Their eating area looks like a restaurant. They have a happy hour for people. They've got a nice pool table. The food is really good. The cost is expensive, but I think it's pretty similar with the others, but for us it was a sticker shock for sure. They have different levels of memory care, and with every level the cost goes up.

We are choosing Meridian at Stone Creek. Doreen, who was in charge of that thing, spent a lot of time with us. She showed us everything, speaking about the whole place. She even went out of her way to show us a cottage where she thought that our dogs would be the most comfortable, as well as us, which we appreciated because we don't want to have to get rid of our dog. They were all very friendly and all acted interested in meeting us. We did look in the dining room, and it was very hospitable. It just had little tables of 4 or 6 people, and they were spaced all around the room. And that was nice because they weren't all communal. We were very pleased with the cottage. It was bright, open, and cheery with high windows that I didn't have to wash. All the cottages were 2 bedrooms, and we didn't expect anything more than that. They had a full kitchen so you could cook part of the time, if you wanted to. It looked like the 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments were probably about comparable in size. They had a salon and they had somebody who would come to do your toes regularly - things that we wouldn't have to go somewhere else for.

The staff at Meridian at Stone Creek kind of took us through a walkabout on independent, assisted, and memory care. It was a nice community. It's just their price is a little high for our budget. If people have a lot of money, I'm sure it's OK. I only had one gal who walked me around and showed us different units and stuff like that. I did see some people moving around, interacting a little bit, not just sitting in their wheelchairs looking at the ground. The staff during the tour knew what she was doing.

Meridian at Stone Creek seemed dark. It didn't seem like there were as many activities going on as the other place. We witnessed many healthcare staff members throughout the building though. The one thing that I didn't care for is that the assisted living and the senior living were combined whereas with the other place, it's separated a little bit. The room that Meridian wanted to give my mom is classified as assisted, and if it's classified as assisted, they don't have balconies, patios, or a full-sized kitchen. For activities, they showed us a board that had certain shopping days and if they were going to a museum.

We moved my brother to Meridian at Stone Creek. We chose this place because he wanted to be around more people. We also like it because it's not that far from where his house was. They seem to have really friendly people and some nice spaces for them to use. The day that we took him over there, he had to wait for a little bit, and one of the gals kind of latched on to him, and with another resident, took him for a walk around part of the outside of the facility, so that was nice. The menu looks super good, plus they have a broad range of times that he could eat. My brother seems to enjoy some of the staff members and everything there. The staff that went over the finances and everything, she was just awesome. She was super friendly and really connected with us. I really thoroughly enjoyed her. Also, the initial sales girl, Doreen, was awesome, too. Everybody that I encountered was friendly, nice, and upbeat. I did not have any food, but the menus looked good. They would have a display of a couple of things that would be served that day and they always look good. My brother seems to be pleased with the food. The activities seem good. They have a drum circle that my brother enjoys. He's really into music. They also have a piano there. My brother plays the piano, and he goes, 'I'm going to go because someone's going to be playing the piano in a minute.' Their calendar has all kinds of things on it that gives them all to do. It's also in a nice location, kind of set up there on the hill. My brother loves looking out the window and seeing the cows that are across the way. I haven't been there all that much, but so far, it seems good. I think for what we're getting, it's a good value.
