The reason we chose Hearthside Senior Apartments is that it's truly an apartment. You're living on your own. You do your own cooking. You do your own cleaning. The other places that we've toured provided all of that, which at some point in our life we might need, but we aren't ready for that yet. The complex doesn't appear to be that old. It's very well-kept. It's very secure. You go in through secure doors, so people can't enter. You go to your apartment through the inside. I felt the safety feature was nice. They have activities that you can be as active as you want or not active as you want. You can have a car or they provide grocery shopping day. It's right on the bus line, too, so transportation is not an issue. They have a covered atrium that's quite large. I saw people in there reading, knitting, and chatting. This is in an area that within a block, there are four other senior centers and two of them are linked to the same people who run the one I'm going into. One of them is across the street, and I know they have a beauty shop. There are four floors and elevators, but everything is on one level once you get into your apartment. The staff members are quite helpful with information. The main person of contact seems kind.
