My husband was in Cashmere Convalescent Center. They seemed to have enough staff. You always see staff. Not like you go up and down the hall looking for somebody. They always seem to have a staff where you can ask for help and they respond quickly. The food is very good. They also have a choice of eating in your room or the dining room. The place is very clean. It's an older home, but everything is kept up. It smells good when you go in. It doesn't smell like somebody had an accident, and they haven't cleaned it up yet. They have a lot of social activities. You can do as much as you want or you can do as little as you want. They've always got something going on. They have coffee hour, bingo hour, and canasta hour. They have people that will come in once in a while and just play music or guitars, and they have people that come in on Sunday for church for those that still want to have a service. They have animals and they have a place for a garden if you want to garden. That to me was encouragement that even though they had to be in a home, they could still enjoy some of the things they like to do. One time he had a room to himself because they didn't have anybody else come in, and the other time he had to share with a friend. They have two different sides. One side is for those that are in the nursing home part, and then those that are in the rehabilitation center, and he's been in both. The staff seemed to be very caring and interacted with the people and talked to them. Some of them tease them and the patients tease back. Even though they're at the end of their life, they still seem to be having some joy in it with the activities, and they went and made friends. It's not modern by any means, but they keep it very, very clean.
