I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest for rehab. It was a long-term situation, but it was a good experience for the most part. We've been in there twice. The second time he had some health issues that caused a problem and he was put back in the hospital. It's a good facility. They did three hours of therapy per day, which was really good because that's more than you can ever get in an outpatient setting. It was about 100 times more than we got in either one of the other places we went that we were supposed to get rehab at. They also had a full-time doctor on-staff that came in every day and checked health issues and was able to prescribe medicines for and to treat the health issues while you were there. Just like a hospital type setting, you had your meals and you had regular treatments. It was a good setup. You could still get your medical stuff taken care of and get the rehab you needed, everything, all in one setting. For the most part, all the treatment personnel and the nurses and everybody that came and took care of him were really nice. I would rate them a five the first time we were there. The second time, because of all the medical issues and things that we were having to do to keep him from being discharged, which I had to appeal twice, I would have to say it was a three out of five. That's not anything against the treatment personnel. The treatment personnel were great, but the administration was horrible. I had to give the administration a one out of five, but the treatment personnel were so good. The workers and the nurses and everything were great. The administration had left something to be desired.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was in Hillcrest before. I enjoyed it, but they weren't giving me my medicines right. I got into the high spectrum of my disorder and I talked constantly. I had 24-hour sitters. People would sit with me when I’m high to make sure that I was OK. I don’t realize when it happens sometimes. I stayed there for 21 days. My sister knew something was wrong, and she studied it up from the time I had my surgery till I was home. What happened was that when I was dismissed, Hillcrest got my medicines mixed up, and while I was there they got my medicines mixed up. That was why I had those ups and downs; mostly up as part of the disorder. So I went to the psychiatric hospital for a week, and they got my medicines all straightened out. The staff was great and really good. But I had a little trouble with the nurses' aides because they would gather in my room and talk about their jobs. So that was unpleasant.
