I felt that the New Life Assisted Living facility will be giving my relatives independence and safety as well. It will meet their needs. The appearance of the place is excellent. It's only about a two-year-old facility, so it was well-kept. It appeared to be a really pleasant place for people to live. The staff that gave us the tour was very friendly and answered all the questions. I followed up with them a few times, and they guided me through the process and expectations during this time of searching. I didn't try the food. I reviewed their menu and their process for their meals, and it seems pretty good. They offer three meals and snacks. They have a security code as you go in, so not just anybody can walk in. So for safety, it's top-notch as you walk in. They offer suites for the tenants, so it doesn't look like a nursing facility; it's more of an apartment-style. They don't just have a bedroom. They have a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom, and a large bathroom.

New Life assisted living is located in Donna, TX, a small community in the southernmost part of the state and part of the McAllen metro area. Long summers and mild winters, plus a lower cost of living than many other places in the state, are two characteristics that may appeal to retirees. The town is close to the Gulf of Mexico with several different attractions for residents and visiting friends and family, such as the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge and walking trails along the Rio Grande River. Centrally located within Donna, New Life Assisted Living is near Highway 83, on an acre of land dotted with palm trees. It's a small facility, with a higher staff-to-patient ratio than most assisted living apartment complexes. Residents are supervised 24-7, with care and help with mobility, grooming and bathing, or medication management, including immediate diabetic care. Meals are prepared three times each day and served communally and include dietary substitutions.
