I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

They take great care of my grandmother, love the staff and care she receives.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have very dear friends in the Heritage Villa Nursing home who have been incarcerated and held incommunicado from friends and loved ones for over two years. I feel such isolation is detrimental to the mental health and possibly the physical well being of those held there as they have no way of communicating their situation or their needs. Their incoming mail is censored and they are not not permitted cell phones, lap tops, or even stamps to write letters out. A rare letter received from them indicates they are being harassed and abused and held "like prisoners." Why does the State oversight of nursing homes permit this? I have no doubt that I will not even know if/when they die.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was admitted to Heritage Villa Skilled nursing after her wreck this past May for care as she could not be by herself. This is an awful place to put a relative or friend. I wish there were more ways I could tell the world how this place treats their residents. My mother is only 57 and other that the wreck mangling her foot she is fine. They treated her poorly so I can only imagine how they treat the residents with memory loss or alzheimers. I hated to go there and visit her simply becasue it would break my heart to see all the others and not know how they felt becasue they were uable to speak. I contacted the director and also the main company that oversees this nursing facility and to this day, August 8th I have not received a phone call or response back from anyone. Needless to say I made sure we got my mother transfered to another facility just as fast as I could. My heart still breaks to think about the residents that are there. One lady was laying her bed in the same spot, never moved, never brought out of her room the whole week my mom was there. Everytime we passed her room in the halway there was a foul smell coming from her room. My heart breaks just thinking about her. My mom was there a whole week and finally a Doctor comes and takes notes on her the last day about an hour before she was transfered. My mom had to beg for a bath the whole week she was there and never got one until she finally let me know she really needed one. I requested a basin and received a salad bowl from the kitchen to bathe my mother. They also brought her a potty chair with no bucket in it so needless to say it was useless. I still have that picture on my phone. This place is a COMPLETE JOKE when it comes to nursing care and I strongly urge anyone living in or having loved ones in Liberty County Texas to avoid this place!
