"We went to Bulverde Assisted Living. It's a home that has three or four residents living there. It was very nice. We didn't get as warm of a reception as we did at the other place. The staff seemed to be busy and didn't have a whole lot of time to spend with me just wanting to see the facility. The rooms were nice, but there was just one big room, and some of them had a small area for a little kitchenette, not a stove, but a little sink, cabinets, and a little refrigerator. But it was nice. It was clean. I saw them playing bingo, and there was one lady that was working on a puzzle. The staff was nice and answered all of my questions. But since I told her that we weren't looking to move in right away, then she gave us some brochures to look at. She said once you decide what you want to do, come back and we'll look further. But she was very nice."

"My husband was here, and I thought it was fine. However, my husband didn't like any nursing home. We chose them because it was located here -- a mile from the house. They were good and appeared to be very clean. He had his own room. The personnel were very friendly, very nice, and easy to deal with."

"My mother's experience with Hill Country Care has been OK. It's just a little boring, and the food is not so great. The staff is very caring. She is living in a room by herself, and it's fine. "

"I had a nice tour at The Brixton at Horseshoe Bay, it's a brand-new facility. Right now they only have the short-term care portion opened, they said the long-term care portion of the facility would be opening soon. They had nice, big, open areas where the clients can play games or watch movies. They had activities. They had semi-private and private rooms, it was more of a hospital setting to me. They had hospital rooms, the double rooms had curtains dividing the beds. If you choose to get a private room, it has an attached bathroom. The staff that helped us was very nice, and very efficient, she did a nice tour of the facility, and was very informative. She answered all of my questions."

"my mom has been here over 8 years in general she loves it here while not perfect , the food is lacking a lot, the staff are great and will go out of their way to accomidate you , she has built a relationship with most of the staff and so have we, after 8 years they are like extended family as are many of the residents and their family, the management [MJ] is allways quick to help with any concerns you may have. yoga, bingo, crafts, ice cream socials,afternoon movies, garden club, are just some of the things to keep you busy. the place is clean and pleasent, i spend 3 or more days a week with my mom so i see more than some, and other than the food which i agree with the residents about this is one of the best places "

"I was very, very impressed with Lavender Springs. It had a home-like setting and it's decorated beautifully. It's small and it has a gorgeous view of the Texas Hill Country. They even have a little raised garden area. The people seemed very, very happy, and the rooms were very nice. If I had to go to a place, I would want to go there. The staff was wonderful. It is family-owned and everybody seemed very, very nice. They have a full kitchen in the back and said all their food is made from scratch. The food smelled wonderful. The whole place was just excellent. Even when we had that bad snow last year here in Texas, the granddaughter said they have a generator and they never lost power that time. Her father has a front-end loader that he kept in the driveway and used to clear the snow and everything. The place has easy access for those who are in wheelchairs. They have beautiful, big plate windows that you can look out into the Texas Hill Country. So, you're not looking over a bunch of houses or apartments or stuff like that. They also have a big deer feeder. It was nice and they care for their people."

"My dad is living at The Heights of Bulverde. It is clean. The staff members are friendly. The patients are smiling, and they seem to be happy. The food is excellent. We have nothing but good things to say about the place. For us, it is convenient because it is ten minutes from my mom's house, so she can visit him on a daily basis. For us, that's of the fantastic things about it. The other thing is that it is a brand-new community. There are plenty of nursing staff members for each wing. It is in an H shape, and there is one registered nurse, and two CNAs for each wing. They have good staffing for the patients. There are religious groups that come for spiritual instruction, and they have music, and sing-a-longs. The staff members are very knowledgeable, very friendly, and very helpful. The place is clean. They have regular cleaning staff there. It also doesn't smell; it has a good odor."

"Provident Memory Care at Signal Hill was excellent. The director, Deanna, was very professional, very transparent, and very honest. We very much appreciated her integrity and directness. She was very thorough. The room was inadequate for what we were looking for. It was just a half bath with no shower (there's a public shower for assisted showering). The cleanliness was very impressive. It was very clean and it seemed like they had a very nice menu and the facility was very quaint and very personal."

"I have moved into Ridgemont Village Marble Falls. It's not a big apartment building. There are individual little cottages with an actual garage, and that's one level. I didn't have to move furniture or cart groceries up to a fourth floor. It just had a nice feel to it. I wanted a small town, I didn't want a big city. It isn't an individual cottage, they are Triplexes. There's three of them grouped together, but they are grouped together in a little cul de sac, so it doesn't look like row houses. It's landscaped well and just looks really nice. So far, I've only met the property manager. I haven't met the person yet, but the property manager was about as helpful as they come. I don't do much cooking; I eat frozen things and I go out. There is no food. I would say 90 percent of the residents are widows or single women, and most of them over 55. So, they have kind of a camaraderie here that is really nice. They get together for coffee just about every morning. They have prayer meetings together. They have canasta and card games, and the men have their own card nights. They have potluck dinners, but most of the activities are usually resident driven instead of activities director driven. The landscape is beautiful on the outside, but the insides are gated, and they haven't been upgraded in a while. It met all of the needs that I have, and the other things that I overlooked. In terms of the value for the money, compared to everybody else, I give that the highest rating."

"My husband was in Knopp #1 on Llano for 4 days following seizures and a small stroke. We were extremely pleased with his care which also included physical, occupational and speech therapy. Every member of the staff was cheerful, competent and responded quickly to our needs. Even the food was better than we had in the hospital! We would absolutely go there again if necessary because of the high quality of care. However, the facility itself is very old, smells bad, and poorly furnished which is the only reason we have given only 4 stars."

"I knew someone who lived at Knopp Retirement Center, and I was able to visit the facility several times. She was very happy there. They had a domino games going on every night. They encourage the residents to play games together, and she didn’t just stay in her room. The staff was very supportive of that activity. I was not able to try their food, but she was very happy with the food there. "
