My father moved into Gracious Living Estates. It's a 65-bed facility, so for my father it's working out very well. It's not big, it's not small, we liked it, and he likes it. It's in the country, people are extremely friendly, and he really likes the care he's getting. There's a hospital 3.5 miles away. The staff is friendly and everyone is friendly. I thought they had food once that was very good, and my father said it was plentiful and good. He's been taking part in all the activities, from the exercise, to the art classes, to crafts, and I think there's 5 different activities. It's average price.

The front sidewalk is in very bad condition, with multiple areas of breakup setting the stage for falls and it is difficult /unsafe for residents to cross . This is the front main entrance and includes the ramp for handicap accessibility.

My father was a resident at Gracious Living Estates for 8 years. He received wonderful care his entire stay. He made quite a few friends while there which included staff and other residents. The staff is caring and knowledgable. They have training classes regularly. My father wasn't thrilled with the food, but you have to consider it wasn't made like home but it was cafeteria style. There are many activities including bingo, trivia, special music, church services, etc. For example, the facility was always decorated for every holiday and season, they had a family picnic in the summer which included live music and great food, they had a Thanksgiving dinner for the residents and their families, they invited children to come in for Halloween to trick or treat, and they had special music groups come in for Christmas. There was a small group that liked to play pinochle on their own. The owner goes over and above to help the residents feel at home as well as take care his employees and treats everyone as if they are his own personal family members. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility for themselves or for a family member.

I felt that the staff was very nice to me and the other people in the tour group. I didnt get the same feeling that they were as nice to the residents though. I dont think I would be sending anyone there anytime soon. Alot of the food there was not good. They also did not have very much entertainment for the residents. It really made me sad when I noticed the most fun they can have is to put a puzzle together or sit and vegetate in front of a TV. This is not a very nice place to put a loved one in.
