My husband is a resident of Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle. It is an older place and the unit he is in looks like all the old furniture and leftover things got pushed into it. I understand why but it's just very hard to see because these patients might not have their memories but still have feelings. I have requested and they promised me that they are going to put a new mattress on his bed and a chair in his room. Supposedly, the place is also going to be painted so he can have pictures on the wall because right now there's nothing and it's so drab. I'm just praying for things to get better, that's all I can do. He is in a shared room and it's been about 2 weeks since he moved in. His interaction with the staff is limited. He's been on what they call a one-on-one. It's a nursing home and rehab so you have all kinds of different things going on there but he is in their memory care, which is a lockdown unit, so you would need a code to get in and out. I've only seen him eat two different meals and both of them were satisfactory. I haven't seen them, but they have some activities. I have not yet been given his plan of care and the information about the activities that he or the family could participate in.
