My friend and I moved to Viva Bene St. Peters, which is a wonderful new community for adults 55 and older. It is independent living, and it's cheaper than the other ones we looked at by almost half. It's also just gorgeous, and we love it here. Everyone here is super friendly, both the staff and the residents. People greet you in the hall, ask you how you're doing, and introduce themselves. They really have wonderful people. We just haven't had the handyman come back yet. The apartments are bright, open, and airy, with lots of windows and patios. My room is huge. It's bigger than the room I used to have. They also have plenty of parking. They have a pool, a game room, and a mail room. They have a bistro downstairs where people can have potlucks or play cards or whatever game they play. They just won't take people out unless they have their own transportation. They don't serve meals here, so you get your own meals, but the dining area is called The Bistro, and they do sometimes have coffee klatches, a ladies' night, or a gentleman's night. They call it the Romeo Club and the Lunch Bunch, where people bring or buy their own food and eat together.

Viva Bene St. Peters is a nice community, but it is more like just being in a regular apartment. They don't have the extras that you would expect with community living. They do not provide meals, and they don't have transportation, and things like that. However, the apartments are excellent. I had picked out, in fact, a two-bedroom apartment there, and I was set to go to them. It was a very nice community. If I were 10 or 15 years younger, I would have jumped at it. The staff was very nice. It's just been built recently. They had a snack bar and a nice gathering area, but no food facilities. It was well laid out. The apartment was very, very nice. They had updated appliances, and they had an elevator. They had the exercise room, and the mail was delivered there, and they had a mailroom. I was very impressed. I liked it very much.
