"My mother’s in George Regional Health, and they’ve been great. The rooms are nice. I don’t really have any complaints about any of the rehabilitation, other than the financial part. They’re not a business office at the rehab, so we've been in limbo about how long my mother’s going to be able to stay there. She’s under Medicare, they’re just trying to figure out how long she can stay there. Her evaluation as part of her rehab is the only other thing that we really had trouble with or questions about. We just have to ask when things come up. This is our first time going through this, and there’s not really a lot of direction to follow. There needs to be some kind of follow up on her status. They’re connected to the George County Hospital, which is very convenient. She doesn’t have to leave the facility; they just roll her on a stretcher to the emergency room, and the emergency room makes the determination as to what’s wrong with her, then puts her in ICU for two days. Instead of going out in the weather to be transferred, they've made it very convenient. "

"My grandfather was a resident in this community. While it offers a large degree of independence, it also has very excellent assisted living services. It is a safe, and secure community and friendly staff. I also looked after him for a period of time and neither the staff nor the other residents minded me, as a matter of fact I participated in the weekly events held for entertainment and thoroughly enjoyed myself as a young adult. "

"Unfortunately, myself and my families experience with this facility was anything but good. We were lied to about the kind of care they can provide, both legally ( as they are an Alf facility) and medically. They accepted my Father who was in late stage alz/dem knowing FULL well how bad it was. They took 3.400.00 of my elderly Mothers, accepted without ANY doctor orders or other protocol that is mandated in Alabama. Kept him for 4 days of which not ONE was a full day or night, We were there for almost all of what little time he was there and the time we did leave him alone, he was medicated on Serequil so heavily, that he fell and was unconscious,it wasnt until my husband and I arrived 20 minutes later they even considered calling an ambulance. Our encounter with them did not stop there......however to sum it up in the end they had him 4 days total accepted him when they were not licensed to do so and refused to give us back any portion of the money. we are in t process of pursuing them legal;y. I URGE you to look elsewhere. If you look atthe current residents they are all like zombies because they are so heavily medicated "

"The staff members at the Citronelle Convalescent Center were very professional. They made sure my friend had everything she needed. Once a nurse even asked if there was anything that she could get me. Because my friend was near the end of her battle, the nurses (and her doctor) allowed her to have chocolate milk and mini snickers bars, her favorite, almost every day. They also respected her wish for them not to hold the milk carton for her, so that she may retain her dignity. The only problem that I had was there was another elderly woman in my friend's room who constantly aggravated her. Frequently, the woman would stare at my friend and make noises to annoy her. The nurses suggested that I pull the curtain to block the other woman's view of my friend. However, this woman would still try to annoy my friend and interrupt my visits with her, perhaps out of jealousy. However, the facility and its staff are great overall. Also, the facility appeared spotless every time I visited. Unfortunately, I was out of town when my friend passed, but I take comfort in knowing that she was in really good hands. "

"My mom, 94 years old, has been a resident of Gulf Coast Health and Rehabilitation for about 3 years. The facility is always clean and well managed. Every concern we have had has been addressed immediately with respect and compassion. The quarterly care meetings (either in person or over the phone) we have with the staff are always informative, organized and very beneficial. The entire staff has always been polite, helpful, friendly, and courteous to us and goes above and beyond to meet mom's needs. Mom is well taken care of and happy which means we're happy. I have no problem recommending this facility."
