"We toured Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe. It was nice and clean and new-looking. The person who helped us there was very congenial, and I have nothing bad to say about it. It was just a wonderful experience. I always thought that if I ever had problems, I'd want to live here."

"We went to Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley. They were very, very good. They explained everything very well. Their staff has a lot of seniority. They don't leave very often. They have pictures of the staff, so if you're looking for someone, you can look at the pictures. It was very clean. It was very well maintained. The rooms were nice and spacious, but not too big. The areas and the way they had people in or out were good. Regarding the services they offered, you paid a little extra to have them monitor and do all your medications, but it was something very reasonable. If the patient were to fall, they would bring an X-ray in. They don't make them go to the hospital unless they have a worse injury of some sort. The person who took us on the tour probably spent about an hour and a half to two hours with us. The lady was talking to my stepmother, interacting and listening to her concerns. She was just very, very good. We also got to talk with the director. She was a veteran as well, and she understands veterans. They had the thing where they would get my dad up, get him dressed, and take him to the doctor's office, and my stepmom could meet them there, and then they would take him back. The conveniences of everything that they offered were helpful. They allow the spouse to live there as well, even if they're not memory care patients. It is for an extra fee, but it is not like an entire fee. For an extra $1000, my stepmother could live there with him, too, if she wanted to put him there."

"I moved my Mother to Carol Ann's Home 8 months ago. My Mom was in a corporate facility that neglected her healthcare. I was very fortunate to have Carol Ann's Home reccomended to me. The Memory Care location has 18 beds. The place is painted so the walls and ceiling are painted to look like an outside scene. Each resident has a private room which includes a tv with cable. The staff is amazing! My Mom is finally getting the care she needs and deserves. The price is very reasonable and everything is included. They post pictures everyday so even though I live 2000 miles away in another country I finally feel like she is home. I cannot reccomend the place highly enough. If you are looking for a place that's family run and not a corperate place when the almighty dollar is the main concern this is the place for your loved one. The activities are amazing. This week there was a party for Halloween. Family is always encouraged to come and unlike the corporate places I had my parents at they do not charge you to attend. They say 3 is charm and after 2 corporate run facilities I feel like I have finally found a place that doesn't treat my Mom like a dollar sign, but a realy person who has value. When I moved my Mom here she got the last spot so you many have to be on a waiting list, but it's so worth it! "

"My dad was a resident of Changing Seasons of Castroville. The staff was very attentive. When he got a UTI, they were attentive in getting doctors to help him. The food was probably a little better there, and it was a very nice facility with more activities. He had a room with a bathroom included, and it was very spacious."

"We visited Freedom House. That one was really homey. Everywhere you turn, there's a little nook with little chairs and table set up. There were big windows that they could see outside all the way around. The facility was very nice. Everybody was really nice. They have a dog and a cat that are residents there, and all the people were petting them. "

"We toured Blue Skies of Texas West. You have an investment that you make that can be and probably would be very substantial for some people. The difference from the other place is the upfront cost. The community is excellent. We took a tour, but we also went for a luncheon there, and they have a professional chef on staff who prepares the meal. The person who gave us the tour was very connected, very interested in us, and made sure that we understood every aspect that we would need, to be able to make a decision about their facility. The dining area is like a cafeteria style where it's got a lot of tables, but people get to come and eat, and they get an option. You could select how many meals a day you want to partake in or participate in. If they just want one big meal a day, then that's what they can have. If they want to have almost like a restaurant kind of setting, then that's what they can get also. So they have a lot of options for the food. However, on the preparation side, there's a professional staff that is there that prepare the food for all the residents. You almost feel that you've stepped into a restaurant when we were there with the setting and the sweet staff, and having the excellence of the chef on the property all the time. They have many, many groups, and they have many options for the residents to be able to participate in. They have walking trails. They have all kinds of outdoor activities. They have pools and they have options for people who want to participate in pool recreation and also pool fitness activities."

"Blue Skies of Texas was very nice. However, I could move into the other place and get a two-bedroom for about what a one-bedroom was going to cost me out at Blue Skies. The apartments were very nice. The staff who gave the tour was very nice, too. However, one of the things there is that you get an allowance every month for food, and then once that's gone, they charge you more. The place was very clean."

"I stayed in The Grandview of Westover Hills, it was excellent. I had to leave because I got sick and needed more care. The community felt just like staying at home. The staff was excellent and I had a very nice apartment. The maintenance and upkeep were very good, they cleaned my apartment and gave me three meals a day, which was excellent. We played bingo, we had parties for birthdays, we had other activities and movies. We planted plants outside, we had barbecues and other activities on the patio out front including an Easter hunt. The staff was very, very good and the food was good. If we didn't like what was being served that day, we can order something else and they'll bring it to us. It's good value for the money because it's not as expensive as other places. When you pay the rent, that already includes them cleaning your apartment, doing your laundry, and feeding yourself. I would move back if I was able to."

"Primrose Lane is a very nice facility; they specialized in Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. It was very clean. Mostly elderly, there weren’t a whole lot of young handicapped people; there were more people her age. It seems like a very nice facility, and mom is loving it. They have breakfast and lunch, and then they get snacks. They have a place like a bedroom where they can go and take naps if they choose, they have church services that come in once a week, bible study, singing, entertainment come in, and arts and crafts. They also have memory games. It just seems a wonderful place. The staff is very personable. I would highly recommend it. "

"Avalon Memory Care - Mystic Park was nice and very inclusive. The room we saw was a little larger. Someone just moved out, so it wasn't cleaned up yet. The person who gave me the tour was named Autumn. She was very helpful and very knowledgeable. She had been there for a long time. Everyone was very nice and seemed to be pretty skilled at what they were doing. They had a nice kitchen and a dining area. They had bingo. When we were there, they had somebody come by with exotic animals, which they all seemed to enjoy a lot. They had a park across the way. They take them over there, as long as they ask permission. They do certain activities."

"We had to move my mother to a secure facility and right now, she is at the Mesa Vista Health Center. Everything's fine there. This is her first day here. It's a very nice place. She has an individual room, which is pretty awesome. It's a nice space, and they just remodeled it and painted it. Everything's very nice and very clean. She's already had two meals, and it's decent food. They have a physical therapy room, the dining room is nice, and they have a living area where they get out together and watch TV. They have very nice landscaping and there are patios. Medicaid is paying for it."

"My dad is a resident of The Cottages at Danny Kaye. His care has been excellent. He was in the assisted living portion, and we had to move him to memory care, and the caregivers have been excellent. He's now in hospice, and I couldn't be happier with the nurses who come in to check on him. So, I highly recommend it. I've been very pleased. The facility is very nice."
