"My Mother's room was very clean and laid out well with everything she needed! She was well cared for by warm and wonderful staff! We fell in love with a few staff; but more importantly, the staff fell in love with my Mom!! Whenever we all visited we were met with smiles and spoken to by our names. If I couldn't get in touch on my Mother's cell phone, the staff was more than happy to get a phone to her! All of her needs and comfort were met, exceedingly. My Mom was family, there!! They always had exciting and invigorating activities going on! Whether it was church, a holiday or a birthday, even an Arby's meal, it just seemed so special. Luz Z. played a big role of creating a week full of fun things to do!! Everyone was included. The decorations, over the top. Very special indeed!!"

"Carriage Crossing of Decatur seemed to be very caring. The people were very responsive to the needs of the residents. They make you feel comfortable and welcome, and they're open to questions. They were able to answer all our questions during our visit. I think they could supply all our needs, and they're just very generous. We looked at their memory care and we also saw assisted living. You could come in, order food, and eat with your patient or resident there. The facility is newly remodeled, so everything is beautiful, comfortable, and pleasing. The parking is minimal though. I think that would be the only thing that I would have an issue with. They have a gym, a barbershop, a television room or movie room, and an exercise room. "

"My mom chose Lincolnshire Place Decatur. They're doing a nice job with her. They keep the place very orderly and it's a nice place compared to a lot of places I've seen. The staff is very friendly and nice. She's getting physical therapy and occupational therapy, which has been very helpful. When she got there, she couldn't do much on her own. And now, she's walking with a walker and getting dressed on her own. But if you're diabetic, you don't belong there because all they want to feed you with is carbs, and that's the one point there I don't care for. Mom has a private room and it is nice, but she's mostly out in the general area where everybody's at. They have a lot of sitting areas and televisions. There are a couple of different locations where you can watch television and they have group activities. It's locked units and you have to have a code to get in and out of the building. So, it's pretty secure. They have a couple of residents who get out of the unit once in a while, but they've never gotten out of the building."

"We're moving mom to Arbor Rose of Monticello. I know people who work there, and I've heard good things from people that have had family members there with Alzheimer's. We've already visited, signed the contract, and we're moving her in tomorrow. I was so impressed. I was only able to go into half of the building. I had a smartphone, and they did a virtual tour with it on one-half of the building, and that's for the rehab half. The half that mom is going to be on is beautiful, and has bright colors to help stimulate their minds. They have activities every day. They have exercise every day. They have a very big area, and a hallway that's painted by the owner's daughter, that's very stimulating to the mind. Since they can't go outside with this Covid, they're doing everything possible to keep them stimulated, keep them moving, and keep their minds working instead of sitting there or letting them watch TV. The other half that I took a tour into were the rooms, bedrooms, the common area, everything. The staff answered every single question. They gave me even more information that I didn't know about her being with dementia. They continuously ask, "What is your mom like? What is she not like?" I was very impressed. It's a beautiful facility. They have a cook. Once this Covid thing is over, we can come in every day and eat lunch with her. Once a month, they have a family get-together, and they have a buffet set out so everybody can come in, talk and socialize."

"Mom moved to Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care of Mattoon two weeks ago and we love it. The people there are fantastic, and we've been very pleased so far. I chose this place for affordability. It was the least expensive that we could find and we were most impressed by it as well. My mom loves the food there, and they have activities like bingo, they're crocheting, and they do puzzles. They had a fat Tuesday day yesterday, and they're doing something for Valentine's today. Mom has a refrigerator in her room and has cable TV as well."

"My mother has moved into Carriage Crossing of Arcola. The staff is very engaging. It's very clean. They assist her with the needs that she has as she needs them. It's located in an easy to get location. Security seems to be good, particularly since they have a memory care site as well. She's in assisted living, but you can tell that there's good support for individuals that might have more memory-related issues. Her room is adequate for her needs. My dad spends most of the day with her, so she's not interacted with some of the other residents or participated in some of the other offerings that they provide. They have several ways for residents to have socialization throughout the day. The staff encourages the residents to participate, so I think that's good. They have a nice variety of activities throughout the week. They have bingo every day at 2:00; it's standing room only. They have some seated and standing exercises. They'll have different music groups come in. They have walks and some topic discussion kinds of things that they do. If everybody wants to get together and watch TV together, they can do that. The food is a bit more challenging. Since my mom's been there, she has lost 7 pounds in a month. We're going to need to try to provide some nutritional supplements for her. They need to certainly make meals that will appeal to many different kinds of diets. They choose to have their more interesting meal at lunchtime and then something later in the evening, which is certainly appropriate for older people. The nice thing is she does have a refrigerator and a microwave in her room, so we can make things for her, but I am concerned about her weight loss and how that's being monitored. My dad goes with her at every meal. I don't know what it would be like if he weren't, if there would be somebody that would be watching closely her nutritional status and making sure that she's not losing further weight. I was able to have a couple of meals there and they were fine. They just need to appeal to a wide variety of individuals."
