Memory Care Communities in Chenoa, IL

"My mother will be moving into Village at Mercy Creek. It's beautiful, and the staff is wonderful. The dining room and the menus are fantastic. There's a beauty parlor and a beautiful courtyard. It's just well kept and clean. It's a little smaller atmosphere than the other ones I toured, which fits well for my mother. My mother made the final decision, but I think the Franciscan affiliation was a big part of it. My mother's Catholic, so that might have had something to do with it, but I think the smaller atmosphere was very appealing to her and us. The other facilities I looked at were larger. It's wonderful. The staff is very educated in geriatrics; that is their field."

"We went to Carriage Crossing of Bloomington yesterday. It's very good. It's very clean, it looks new, and it's very organized. It's very bright and cheery. It's excellent. Everybody was friendly and knowledgeable. It's a very good visit. The facilities were excellent, too. It looked like a home. We saw the menu, and we were very impressed with the menu."

"My sister has moved into Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center. They are excellent. They have completed several assessments on her, and she visited with a doctor there and had her prescriptions fine-tuned. They've got her engaged, interacting with staff, and moving around the facility. She is getting a little more activity than she did in the previous location where she stayed. I've sat there with my sister while she had lunch a couple of times, and it seems to work pretty well for her. She likes it pretty much. People are not hiding in their rooms or self-isolating, they're out with their activities. They're moving around the facility or the outdoor patio area or their courtyard. They seem to have a good staff-to- resident ratio. Everybody seems to know my sister pretty well already, which is good. Every time I go in there, I don't have to look for the director of nursing or the activities coordinator. I just run into them, and we chat for a little bit. So, it's easy for me to get caught up on how my sister is doing and what challenges she's having. So that's been great, and it's 10 minutes from our house. We can stop out there any day for a few minutes or an hour or longer whenever we want. It's convenient. The staff have been very upfront and they're good communicators. They keep us apprised of where they are with her transition to their facility, the types of things and activities that they want her to participate in, and how they go about it. It's been really good. They seem to be very clean and well-organized. The building structure allows people to walk around the really wide halls. They can stroll inside the facility in a figure-eight pattern, which is maybe a quarter of a mile in total. They could get a good walk and just be inside doing that. They have nice seating areas and a nice activity room. It's not a old organization. Facility-wise, it's not brand new either, but it's well-kept. In comparison to where she was residing before, this place is so much better, and it is more expensive, but it certainly seems to be worth it."

"We went to Bickford of Bloomington. We went specifically into the memory care wing. It was an excellent facility. It was bright, wide, and open. The rooms were large. The people appeared to be loving to the ones who were in there. The staff was very cheerful and upbeat. I was very impressed with it."

"Meadows is a wonderful facility. The staff goes above and beyond caring for the residents. They also make families feel comfortable and welcome when visiting loved ones. "

"Evenglow Inn was very small and more like a house setting, very homey, very comfortable, and very nice. They only had 26 residents, so it's very personal. They had the people out at tables doing activities. It was cheaper than others. The staff has her dog there every day, and the residents love him and they enjoy that. They're very friendly, very kind, and very good. It was very nice and clean, but a little older facility. We would've taken it if they had the opening. It was a locked community, but there's a little more freedom because they had a courtyard in the middle that my aunt would've been able to go out and walk around. It's right next to a cornfield, and it seemed very secure."
