"My dad was at The Laurels Retirement & Assisted Living. They were very friendly, professional, and nice. He had a studio, about 280 square feet. It was adequate for him because he didn't need a bed. He sleeps in his recliner. The place was very clean. Also, the dining area was kept neat and clean. However, he was not very happy with the pricing. They're not cheap, but none of them are. He did many religious services on Sundays and helped with the Bible study class that met once a week."

"My uncle was placed in a nursing home called Heritage Hall two months ago. The staff is wonderful; the room is spacious and clean. He is in a shared room and loves the food. The dining room is spacious, elegant, and homey. They have singing and bingo. They seemed to be doing a great job. What impressed me most was because of the staff, they were very good to my uncle, and they treated him very well. "

"The Knott County Health and Rehabilitation Center is located in southeastern Kentucky. I go there often to visit residents in the community. Recently, a dear friend of mine, as well as a brother in our church had to be admitted there because of his progressing Alzheimers Disease. I had noticed the decline when I saw him at church regularly. His family kept him home as long as they could, but due to his rapid decline they had no other choice. Even though he doesn't recognize me, I go see him at least once a week because he is such a wonderful man, friend, and brother in our church. He is about twenty years older than I, but from the first time I met him we became friends. He never failed to joke and try to cheer me up if he knew I was feeling down. As for the nursing home he is in, it is the nicest one in south eastern Kentucky. The staff is friendly, it's kept clean, and even though they seem to be understaffed a bit, they do a fantastic job of making sure all the residents are taken care of. In my opinion, my dear friend has the best place to live in these last stages of his life. "

"Our experience with Heritage Hall Big Stone Gap has been very good. I've been very pleased with it. My mother is not really able physically to do a lot of the activities that they have available for the patients, but I'm very satisfied with the care she is getting. They have plenty of staff and that means a lot. She is in a two-patient room, which has helped her a little bit rather than being by herself a lot of the times. Even though they need privacy sometimes, it has helped her to know the other person in her room. They've got the patients set up in different areas according to their abilities which makes me feel more comfortable. I saw her for about four days in a row and I don't think she left anything on the plate, so it must have been pretty good. They helped her for the first couple of days until she got adjusted and they just told me the other day that she is now beginning to start feeding herself and not ask them for help. She went in the first week of July. It's very clean. I'm satisfied with them."

"This facility is a amazing part of the community in out county of Wise county. It helps older citizen get out of their homes and busses them places so that they can socialize, get necessities, and recieve healthcare. They also provide healthcare through the PACE program and provide the families of the older citizen respite care. The most amazing service that I observed while I was doing a clinical rotation for a month there was that they help poverty stricken clients clean up their living areas, provide them with living areas, and provide them with funds for bills. The staff there is amazing. Even though they don't recieve as much pay as much as they would in a hospital enviroment, they really show that they care for the clients by giving it their all. I would defiently let them provide care for my entire family and probably will when the time comes. "

"I visited this facility on several occasions over the last year. I have to say it is a top notch facility. It is clean and nicely decorated. It appeared very clean,and there were no unpleasant odors in any of the areas I visited. The residents seemed happy and during the weekends I was there, they had numerous activities planned. I would give them a higher rating, but they seemed to be understaffed when I was there. During mealtimes they seemed to struggle to come up with enough help to feed all the residents who needed assistance. There were some family members there who helped out, otherwise some of the residents would have had to wait to eat until others finished. I think if they added some more help, even just at mealtimes, this could be a top notch facility. I would not hesitate to place one of my family members here. "
