Hazard Nursing Home

My dad was a resident in the Alzheimer's unit at this nursing home for just over a couple of years. However I was so dissatisfied I would leave him and come home and cry at night. They were so under staffed. They had one aide trying to take care of 8-10 residents during lunch and that's trying feed several of them. I witnessed residents putting their hands in others plates and eating out of them,while another is pulling their briefs off, and another trying to climb in a chair. Yes all at one time I felt sorry for the aide and tried to help her as I was trying to take care of my dad. There was one time I went to visit and some lady was sleeping in his bed and we couldn't find his shoes to go out at times. I would have moved him but it was left up to his wife even though I was a co guardian the bad part when he passed the nursing home didn't bother calling me, just called his wife. I would never recommend this place to anyone from what I have witnessed.

Hazard Nursing Home was understaffed. I used to visit my aunt who stayed there. I would bring her clothes and underwear, and within two weeks she wouldn't have any again. The food was good because she didn't say anything bad about the food. They had social activities and they had class that the patients could do.

The Hazard Nursing Home was home to my first cousin for five years. I was very comfortable with the staff because I was always treated with a great amount of respect and hospitality. I have been to these facilities where the staff seemed as though they wanted to be somewhere else; this staff was just the opposite. They were always accommodating to my relative's needs no matter what they were. The room where my cousin stayed was always clean and kept very neat, which is something I always greatly appreciated. Although my cousin was always in a lot of pain, the care in which the staff took with him helped ease him through a lot of tough times. I always felt great when I had to leave because I knew he was being left in good hands, as it was made clear to me that his personal needs were this facility's top priority.
