"My mom lived at Vintage Gardens Assisted Living for about six years. They had a lot of staff turn-over in the kitchen, which made us wonder what was going on. But other than that, she had good care. They had very good food and she loved it, although there was always too much. They had crafts. trips, exercises, games, outings, and other activities. I would commend this place to others. "

"I toured Two Timbers. They only have 8 to 10 residents at a time, so it's a real homey feeling place. It's just very small and very clean. It has a big old fireplace and everybody's surrounding the fireplace, which has a TV on one side and the dining room on the other. It was very nice, and the staff was very friendly."

"This retirement community was mediocre. I have seen many facilities that are much nicer when it comes to aesthetics and design, but it was very old and in need of a cosmetic face-lift. The facility itself is not for active seniors, it is more equipped for sedentary or minimally active seniors. (In other words, there isn't anything to do for the seniors who are still alive and kicking.) They have the usual television set with movies, board games, cards, and bingo nights. The seniors capable of walking are allowed to visit other residents as long as it is before "Lights out". The staff were courteous and kind for the most part, but being I was only there for a day, I only saw the nurses on that particular shift. Overall this nursing home is a dreary place with the nurses being the factor that makes or breaks the environment overall. The bottom line: This home gets a 3/5.The good: Nurses, support system, easy access for pick up and drop off, secure location. The bad: Not for very active seniors due to lack of entertainment, on older facility with a dismal appearance, and a curfew. "Both my grandparents resided in Atchison, KS. My grandpa was taken care of at the Atchsion Senior Village after he fell and broke his hip at home at the age of 98. He was as sharp as a tack in his mind but needed some special care that couldn't be provided at home. He was taken great care of by the staff at Atchison Senior Village. He passed away at the age of 102 from old age. He lived a long life. I remember going to his 100th birthday party at the Senior Village. Everyone there was very friendly to us and the other residents at the facility looked happy and were up in their wheel chairs greeting us and helping to celebrate my grandpa's 100th birthday! My grandma is now a resident at the Atchison Senior Village also. She lived at home by herself up until this year when she kept falling and hitting her head. She did not want to go into a nursing home. She had always been independent and liked living in her own home. After she got moved and settled into Atchison Senior village she has done wonderfully. They have really made her feel at home. Provided her with excellent care. Encouraged her to come out of her room and interact with the other residents. She is now more social. They monitor all of her medications and make sure she doesn't fall and hurt herself. I like that the facility is clean and is in a small town. They take excellent care of the residents and are very friendly. I feel good knowing that they are looking after my grandma and taking such good care of her. "

"My dad was at Medicalodge Atchison for rehab. Right now, they're a little understaffed, which is common with a lot of them right now, with everything that's going on between COVID and so forth. But overall, they're doing a good job. It's clean and somewhat modern, although it's a little older facility. The staff has so far done a great job. He liked the food, they had a lot of options. I'm likely to recommend this place, and I think it's a good option."

"The people at Maple Heights were very friendly. They stopped what they were doing and visited with me. The rooms were fine; there were not as large as the rooms I'd seen at other places, but they were clean. There was no smell. As the nurses were going down the hallway, they were speaking to each person and kind of touching them as they went by. The kindness, caring, professionalism, and homey atmosphere were what stuck in my mind. I would highly recommend this facility. "

"I liked it. We just had one person that we talked to who took us on a visit and she was nice, friendly, and she followed up three or four different times after the visit to see if we still had interest or if there were are any questions. It was laid out better and it was more open than other places, but it was a smaller apartment for the price. The dining area looked nice and there were a lot of people there eating. It was a nice open area and it looked fine."

"My father was hospitalized and when he was discharged, he needed a place for recuperation. His doctor suggested this place because it has a skilled nursing department. He'll be there for 20days because of his Medicare but after, we need to find another place for him that accepts Medicaid. This place only has 20beds with Medicare and they give it to those who are there for long term. I like this place. The staff pay attention to his needs like giving him 3 meals a day. Furthermore, this place is clean with no smell. I will recommend this facility to others whose seeking for a place for their loved ones. This is just a good place. "

"The resident rooms just have a bed no chairs for the residents to sit. So they have to sit on the side of their bed or in a wheelchair even if they do not need a wheelchair. The smell when you walk in the front door is awful. The smell of urine is very overwhelming. When I asked which direction to my grandma's room the lady at the front desk was very rude and said you have to have a mask on. I was happy to wear a mask but needed to know where to find one. These was a puddle on the floor which was urine and I had to clean that up and there were no gloves in the residents room."

"My mom was in Riverside Place around two weeks ago. She was admitted there with COVID, so I haven't been able to go inside. Well, I talked to her on the phone. She's been treated well there. She says it's a clean facility and the staff is pretty good. She said the food is good, there are large portions, they give her a lot of food. She's t getting physical therapy and occupational therapy. It seems to be adequate. The outside shows a little age, but generally well kept, pretty clean, and looks pretty good from the outside. She's told me that sometimes it's difficult for her to get some of her needs met. She needs assistance with changing her clothes and toileting, and she doesn't get her medications exactly on time, so they need to be more timely with her caregiving."

"I have neighbor and friends at Shady Lawn, in the past 8 months. They love it, their rooms are decorated the way the want. The staff is quick on the call light, they are pleasant, they do screen visitors, and they seem to really care about their residents. The food is good per my 3 friends. My biggest concern is their parking is horrible. But it was clean, doesn't have any smell like some homes do. The residents enjoy bingo and games with play money to buy items. They have a wonderful enclosed courtyard. Residents have transportation when they need it. This is all I am aware of at this time."

"I did a tour of Jonesbrook Estates. It was clean, bright, and very welcoming. The staff were friendly and gracious. It was a visit without an appointment, which was even more impressive. The food smells good. All the people there seemed to be enjoying themselves. They were friendly, they had smiles. They seemed happy. The room layouts were convenient, and the rooms were very clean. They had a courtyard, and that was lovely. They have activity rooms that were well appointed, as far as things to do and activities. The dining area was very homey. The facility looked very well kept. I thought it was the best I have seen."

"My name is Margaret and my father John, was a resident at the Falls City Care Center. He suffered from parkinson's and was in a wheelchair during his time there. He also was bed ridden quite a few times. I visited him almost daily during his 2 year stay there. I admired the nurses and CNA's that worked there especially the ones that worked on a one on one basis with my dad. The employees were always friendly and very willing to help in any way possible. They made my father feel like he was very important. They all took great care in making him feel comfortable and loved while he was there. His room was kept very clean and very warm. There were many times when my fahter was bed ridden with illnesses and the staff kept a close eye on him and his condition as well as his physical well being. When my father passed away, many of the staff came to his funeral and shed tears for their loss. It was a great testiment to the staff of this nursing home. They really do care for the residents there "
