"The food at Ottawa Retirement could be 100% better. Their level of expertise could be a little bit better. I know they're nurses, but sometimes they don't act like it. The staff is OK, but they tell you one thing and do another. They don't follow through with what they say they're going to do. My mom wasn't really that active, but they go to church every week, and they play bingo sometimes. As far as activities, they don't have any activities at all. They could improve on their management. "

"My significant other was at Heartland Meadows. They would do such things as ask him to go sit in the other room if the person was less capable than he was of still doing things, so he was like a babysitter to other people there, which does not follow the rules. Some things went on that should not have happened there. They were usually understaffed. They also don't do much of anything. They have someone come in and play music and sing to them once in a while, or someone comes and plays a piano for them. There is very little room in that nursing home. They have their individual rooms, and the only other thing they have is the dining room table. If they're not at the dining room table, they are in their room. The kitchen and the dining area were all together in one room, and they didn't do activities down there. I just can't say much good about that place. They had cats and dogs running around in there and everything else. I would suggest that they get a new director."

"We've been pretty satisfied with this provider. The staff is usually kind, although I think that sometimes they could be more attentive. My aunt complains about being cold all of the time and we take her throws, blankets and sweaters but often when we visit she is in short sleeves and shaking from cold. We had to tell them numerous times and then visit the director to finally solve the problem. They do take care of her dietary needs well and it is always clean. We keep a close eye on her and if something arises we go straight to staff, and usually to the director who does seem very kind. They have a lot of activities and even a dog and a cat that roam around the facility which most of the residents adore. "

"My father needed rehab, so he went to Life Care Center of Burlington and he has been there for about a month around last year in August. The staff were all very friendly, and they were concerned about my dad and kept track on him. When I would come in to visit, they would let me know what kind of day or night he had. They had choir singing. I noticed that they have game boards like monopoly. They also have a TV in the living room area where they could watch TV. For the size, it seemed pretty adequate to me. "

"My father has moved into The Meadows. The apartments are wonderful, spacious, and updated. It's a very clean facility with a nice dining room. They have good staff. The food is great, and my father loves it. His reaction to the food is really good. My father hasn't participated in activities very much, but just by reading the list, it looks like it's good. They have a wide variety of activities. It's also a very good value because I looked at other places in the area, and they're a better value than the other places. Another reason why we went to The Meadows is because that was the town my father was living in, so it was better just to keep him in his town rather than venture to another town where he would have to change doctors and all that."
