"Addison Place is a good facility. When you go in there, it's like a country living type of setting. It's nice. They have a community area where they have couches and things up in the front that they can all sit and visit, and my mom is allowed to take her dog with her there. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. You can call any time you want and they'll help you out. The food was really good and they're home-cooked meals. They do all kinds of activities, and they have at least three or four things to do in a day. The only day where they don't have any activities going on is on Sunday, but they have a Bible study instead."

"The Chateau of Batesville was beautiful and nicely decorated. They're in the middle of getting all new carpets in and things on the wall, so it is going to be even better. The staff and the residents were very nice. We spent time with the administrator and every place we went, the people talked to her, and obviously thought a lot of her. We walked by the dining room and the food smelled good. There were a lot of people eating there. It was a really nice and clean. The administrator was a very knowledgeable and very caring person. She helped me quite a bit with my mother's situation, as she has to go into a nursing home first for a short period and then into assisted. She actually took care of that, because she knows people in the local nursing homes. The room was really nice. My mother is going to be in a one-bedroom. It's pretty roomy with a kitchenette and a bath. They have a small outdoor space that has two raised bed gardens with some vegetables and flowers planted. There's also a nice little patio out there that is partially covered, and a small pond that's close enough to get a nice view of that. They have a nice gathering area where they have a little kitchenette, and you can make popcorn or use the microwave uner supervision. They play bingo, there are card tables and a pool table, too. So, they pretty much have everything."

"I visited Charter Senior Living of Gateway Park in Greenfield. They have independent living quarters where you're in with a lot of other people, and then they have individual houses with just wonderful accommodations. It's very expensive. They're running around $3,000 to $3,500 a month, and that's pretty heavy, but it's comparable to the prices that I've checked all around. When I am ready, that's the one I will probably use. It's just very nice, quiet, secluded, and has all the amenities that go with it. You can have independent living, and I still have my car, so I will have a garage, and everything, just like living in a regular residential area. They're just like regular houses. It has all kinds of restaurants and a lot of traffic around the area. It's also roughly about 10 miles from my current home, so that's the one I would want to use. In the big apartment complex, they have a swimming pool, a recreational workout, and stuff for staying fit. The workout room has stationary bikes and walking paths where you can walk your dog. They have food there that they fix, just like a restaurant. The price on the big house with all the apartments was a couple of hundred dollars less than the individual units. You just come out of your independent living house and walk into the big apartment-like place, and you have your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They even have snacks. I've had lunch out there a couple of times, and the food was excellent. I've sampled some of their breakfasts, and a couple of times I was out there and had dinner with them. It's excellent, and everything about it is clean. It also smells good. I've found nothing that turned me against it."

"Very caring staff, low turnover, gave compassionate care to my dad and our entire family. They worked to have fun and had many planned activities in the Alzheimer's unit. We were very lucky. "

"Dad moved to Autumn Trace in Connersville. We chose it because it's brand new and the view that he has from his room is nice. The rooms are spectacularly clean and roomy, and the staff is nice. They have several different sunrooms and TV rooms. They have a movie theater and a small gym. They also have a dining room where the residents or their families can go in and cook a meal and have a big get-together gathering. It's nice. I haven't eaten the food but I have spoken with my dad and several other residents, and they all say that they have amazing food and that the only thing that they don't like is that they give them too much food. So, they feel like they're wasting it. They've played cards and board games and watched movies together and things like that."

"Caroleton Manor was where my mother-in-law was in her final days, and that wasn't near as nice. She went into assisted living and then she got to where she had dementia. She was in a 4-bedroom room and there was one chair and they had her sitting in it, so there wasn't any place. We didn't see any activity because she just sat in a chair, mummified. She would bite and kick people. She was mean, so they had to keep her sedated, but that was for her own good as well. I can't complain about the way the facility took care of her because I never saw them being mean to her. They said you could take her out of her room and move her down the hall to an open area, but they always had TV so loud you couldn't hear so we didn't bother trying to maneuver her down the hallway. The staff was all nice when we there. The security was fine. They didn't have an eat-in cafeteria, restaurant or dining room. They had Meals on Wheels delivered once a day. "

"The care that Majestic Care (Lincoln Center) for my husband is good. His room is always clean, and the bed is always made. From what I have seen, the food seems good. He doesn't participate in the activities much, but they try to get him to do cornhole in his chair and read him crosswords and stuff to try and get him to answer. So far I like it the best of any of the senior communities. They have an outside facility where they can plant things, and go out there in the summertime. I think they are very caring and do a great job."

"I've moved into Majestic Care Connersville. It's independent living, which means that we don't get the same services that the skilled care buildings do. The one-bedroom apartments are wonderful, good- sized, and comfortable. I would gladly say anybody that wanted to do independent living, please come. It's just one building and it's quiet and you don't have anybody above or below you. Everybody is nice to you. Nobody bothers you. It's peaceful. It's gorgeous and you can decorate your apartment however you want. All utilities are included with your rent. There's also free basic cable. The only thing that you would need to pay is for your own phone bill if it's a landline or cell. It's an older building and some things need to be updated like the bathrooms, but they are all usable. They're just a little behind the time. The activities would be off at the senior citizen center about four blocks away. They don't have anything here for residents. There are some levels of activities for the patients in skilled care, but not for residents that are in the independent apartments. They do not provide meals if you are in independent living. However, many agencies can help you bring food to you. Every apartment has a kitchen."

"I toured Timber Creek Village - Shelbyville. I like it because everything is new and it's very close to my daughter, but it's very expensive. I like the arrangements of the rooms and everything. It's a very long building, so if you want to go from one end to the other for some reason and you were disabled, you'd have to have one of those mobile things, and I think that would be a problem. I wish the cars had a cover attached to the building or something, so you won't have to get out in the rain to get in and out of your car. The staff were fine, I had no problem. The facility was very clean."

"My mom is at Aspen Place now. Their price is a little higher. The place is clean and friendly. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Food is good; that's the best part for her. There are plenty of activities. They are pretty expensive, but it is a nice place. She has been there for about two months now. The location is good. It is close to the hospital and close to everything in town."

"My father was a resident at Glen Oaks in the Memory Care Unit during the last year of his life from 2007 - 2008. I can't imagine a better environment for him or any person suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's. The staff was attentive and caring, and welcomed our family whenever we visited. He was attended to with extraordinary tenderness. We are thankful to them and for them. "

"We have chosen Raintree Square. It is an older building, but my mom feels comfortable there. She knows some other people there, and actually, the reason she went with this place is because my grandmother was there years ago, so it is more comfortable for her. The rooms are modest but clean, and the staff so far seems to be very nice and helpful. I was not able to taste the food because they still don't allow visitors in the dining area right now. We were able to go just to the edge of the dining room, and everyone seemed to be enjoying what I would call a normal meal. It was not something fancy, but it is something what I would probably describe as home cooking. They are just starting activities back up."

"Senior Living at Forest Ridge was for more affluent people. It was very nice, but it also costs more. The dining room, and the one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio apartments were all very nice. They have bingo, devotions, outings, and trips, and they also told me about their Veteran's benefits. They have a drink bar that has soda, tea, and coffee in the cafeteria. They also have walking trails that go around the place. They provide one meal every day and cleaning services."

"We are going to Morning Breeze. The price was the best we could find in town. The staff was very knowledgeable. We did see the kitchen, and it was very clean. The place was very clean, and there were lots of outside areas. The rooms were very nice sized rooms, and they were very clean. There's a lot of stuff, including outside areas for Mom to sit and visit. It's very convenient, too."
