My father was in the Alzheimer's unit of Morristown Manor for a few months. At first, we thought they said they'd take care of him but they didn't know how to deal with his problem. I was pleased with most of the staff, but it was the administrator who didn't seem to know what she was doing and couldn't seem to handle her job. It's a very nice-looking community and the nurses seem to be very kind. The food was pretty good. My dad's room at Morristown Manor was fairly small, but it was nice, clean, and well-kept.

We have used Morristown rehab services twice before for mom, and we’re extremely pleased with the services. With her dementia it was something that, when we told her we were going to do it, excited her because she could remember parts of being there. It just worked out well; the location is good, and the doctor that she was seeing from the hospital goes to that facility and works with the patients there, and that was another reason we looked to that facility. They have made it as friendly and as easy on us as possible. It’s very hard to see your loved one take a turn for the worse like that, and they made it as painless as possible for us to make the decision to put her there. They were very helpful. The facility is not new, but it is clean, neat, well-maintained, and excellent. When you walk in it feels very homey. The second thing that really convinced us is that everyone we talked to has just bent over backwards to make us feel welcomed and reassured us that she would be well cared for. The other day, she had a really bad day, and they were on the phone calling us, telling us what was going on. They said that they had called the doctor and told us what the doctor had responded. They have just been great about calling us on our cell phones and keeping us posted if there is anything they are concerned about. They have bingo, and they’ve talked to the activities director about trying to find someone to work with her to crochet, as she used to crochet for 60 years and she can’t remember. Little things like that really make you feel good.

Very nice staff, but not ENOUGH staffing to be sure each patient gets the individual care they need. If patient can feed themselves they will do pretty good but if they have to be fed, the staff will rush them or not finish feeding because they still have all their other work to complete. Mother lost ALOT of weight because of this after maintaining same weight for many years. No other medical problems. The staff can just write down some percentage of food they ate & go on with their other work. No easy answer...she can't just sit there & feed Mom for an hr & not get her other work done & patients taken care of. They need someone JUST to make sure all the spoon fed patients are fed properly. If they can't speak, they can't tell anyone they are hungry or thirsty. Facility was very clean & never an odor like alot of other homes. If Mom could have communicated I think she would be alive today instead of dying from complications of dehydration & UTI, which led to her becoming septic. She was very healthy just couldn't speak or feed herself. Staff should have known she was dehydrated. Overall it is a nice, clean, place with a wonderful staff- just not enough staff to care for each individual properly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone unless their loved one can't talk or let staff know what they need.

Very caring staff, low turnover, gave compassionate care to my dad and our entire family. They worked to have fun and had many planned activities in the Alzheimer's unit. We were very lucky.
