"We toured the Country Club Village Retirement Community. It was small. The cottages are very much like home. You get a flower bed, you'd get porches, and some of them are screened in. It just feels homey. It's not like a great big apartment building. The people we know out there turned out to be a number of them, but they like it there. In the main building, that's where the apartments are, and the cottages have their own little kitchen. You can go over and have a meal, or you can stay at home and have a meal. You can plant flowers, and they'll help you. We see more people our age than older, and we're in our 80s. I like the cottages the best. We did check in on the programs, and I have a list of all the stuff they have. We've been there a couple of times, and we've been there to see the different kinds of classes they have. There are activities that we would be interested in, and some activities that we wouldn't be so interested in. They don't have the big atrium thing, but there are all kinds of places that run into people you might have something in common with, and activities. They have buses that'll take you to your doctor's appointment, and I like that too. So, it's got all the stuff if you need, and they've got your privacy. The staff was very nice and helpful."

"The Brookfield Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Hot Springs is amazing… My dad and I looked at multiple facilities because I needed help providing the 24/7 care he really needed. I was all in for the move but he was totally against being put in a “home”. However, from the moment we arrived at the Brookfield to visit and check it out, he was drawn to the energy and positivity of the wonderful people there and did not want to leave that first day we visited. Now he is all in. They are incredible folks there. All of them! They make sure the residents are taken care of properly and ensure all are given every opportunity possible to participate in the many activities provided from movie days to game days to comedian days to dancing to church services and much, much more. The energy and positivity never stops. They truly are an amazing group of people, and it is a wonderful place. I wholeheartedly recommend the Brookfield in Hot Springs be one of the places you visit if you are looking for help with your loved one. It is an absolutely awesome facility. "

"We toured The Atrium at Serenity Pointe. What I liked best was the view. It's very nice and lovely. It has big areas where you can meet and greet or sit and read a book with everybody. It was beautiful. They call them condos. There are upstairs and downstairs, but we avoid the stairs. They're challenging for me. Everything in the main building was on one level. They just had graduated ramps. The walkways weren't flat, but they went up a little bit and then they'd go down a little, but nothing that would be bad for people with canes and walkers. Inside were all the windows on the outside. The hallways are wide. They're not bright, but it's homey and beautifully decorated. Their units were nice too. When I got to the independent side of things, those condos had a view that I would have taken in a second if I hadn't had to deal with the stairs, and the parking lot doesn't have any covered parking. It's far away from the stairs. It rains hard here. The weather can be awful outside, and I can't see myself trying to walk across a parking lot and climb up those stairs in that kind of weather."

"I went to Garrett Woods Senior Living. I love the cleanliness. I love the activities that they provide, such as tours and anything you want to do really. They have arts and crafts. They had a little bit of everything. The staff was very courteous, knowledgeable, and patient. The building was very clean. Everything was in place and it was just well structured. You feel the warmth and welcome. The rooms were very nice. They weren't too small or too big. They were just right for a person that needs to downsize."
