I'm in Melrose Commons Senior Residences. I chose it because it's in the area where I live and wanted to stay. It's also affordable, and I knew a couple of people who lived here and liked it. It worked out for me. I like the apartments and the other residents here. It's a 62-and-older community. It is safe and has very nice accommodations. We already had an activity this past Friday. They had a 70s theme party, and it was fun. I had a good time. It was an opportunity to meet other members in the community, and so far, everyone's been pretty nice. It's quiet, and I feel safe here, so I like it. The upkeep is really top-notch, too. They stay on top of trash removal, so you don't find any type of littering around the area. They also keep up with cutting the grass and just keeping it attractive. For a 1-bedroom apartment, I feel my room is pretty accommodating. There's a lot of room in the kitchen, the bedroom contains a walk-in closet that's really big, and the bathroom is nice. The upkeep is great, too. So far, I have no complaints. They have an exercise room, which is a small fitness room that has a treadmill, a bicycle, and a couple of other pieces of equipment. There's a laundry room on the second floor, and they have elevators. I think they have two laundry rooms, but I usually go to the one on the 2nd floor because it's nice. The machines are clean, and the rooms themselves are nice and clean. The fitness room has a TV in it that you could watch while you're working out. In the laundry room, they have a couple of couches in there, too, if you want to sit and wait. It's also okay to just put your clothes in the machine, leave, and come back for them. The manager is great. The maintenance person is pretty good, too. Everyone is friendly. If there are any issues, they are attentive right away. I also like the fact that the mail room has your mailboxes, plus your packages are left there. It's independent living, so you do your own cooking, and there's no common dining area. I haven't participated in everything yet, but for activities, they have chair yoga or chair exercise. They also have bingo and something else. They have a bulletin board out in the front, and the community room is really nice, too. It has a nice big screen TV in it, tables, and chairs. You can even rent the community room if you want to have your own private gathering. They allow that. I feel as though it's worth what I'm paying.
