Country Comfort -Elmwood

I toured Country Comfort - Elmwood. I feel like they're trying to take care of their local people as well as they can. I'm not saying what they do is a bad thing, but it's laid out with two separate wings. On one side is memory care, and the other side is, they say that it's assisted living, but I think they work harder than most facilities to accommodate somebody that maybe is kind of on the weak side of that. I think they try very hard to keep those people there even though in a lot of places, they wouldn't meet the criteria and they would tell them they have to go to another facility. At Country Comfort. I think they keep them until the end. I applaud that they are doing that. Like my mother has physical problems, but her mind is all there. However, I feel like for my mom that would be maybe a negative for her. If she wants to sit in her wheelchair and have a conversation with somebody, it's going to be limited. And I feel bad for those people, but with my mom having a sound mind, I felt like it wouldn't be a good experience for her. I saw the entire assisted living wing. On the memory care, I saw the communal room where they bring them up there to watch TV. The rooms were a little smaller there than at the other place, but it is economical. The cost of living there would be reasonable. At the back of the building, there was a place where each hall could go out separately. There was like a covered porch. Like this time of the year, residents could go out and get some fresh air and there was seating out there for them.

Country Comfort-Elmwood was nice because it's small and so they can give more one-on-one care than they would at a bigger place. The rooms were good. They had a private room and a semi-private room. The semi-private room was nice because the beds weren't in the exact same spot. There was kind of a little walkway between the beds and the shared bathroom (which was the only drawback about it), but other than that, they were a good size for a bed and a chair. The lady we talked to was nice and very informative. She was able to give us all the information we needed. Even the ladies in the kitchen were really nice people, too. They have a courtyard area where the memory care people can sit outside. They also have a room where people can go and sit and watch TV. The maintenance was good. It was clean and looked like they were mopping the floor while we were there. They had security and stuff on the doors as well, so that was nice.

We toured Country Comfort-Elmwood. It was very clean and well laid out. They had very friendly and accommodating staff. It was a little bit out of the way in terms of visitors being able to get there, that's why we didn't consider them. It was too far for my stepmother to go visit my father. But they were the most affordable. They had private rooms. The facility was very well-maintained and very clean.

My brother moved into Country Comfort Elmwood. He's very happy there and they take good care of him. It's clean, he likes the food, the people, and his apartment. The staff is very good, very friendly, and very caring. If there's anything he needs, they're right there to help him with it, and as far as anything they need to tell me about, they call me, and let me know. He's satisfied with the food, he has good meals, and every day it's good and food is hot. If he wants anything special, they try to get it for him.

Country Comfort – Elmwood is awesome. The staff is perfect and absolutely marvelous.
