The Best Senior Living Communities in Mountain City, GA

"I toured Traces of Tiger Retirement. The community's fine with no problems. It was very good. I did see two levels of apartments, which was very nice. The staff was very nice. They have a hot tub. They also have a shower room, which is much easier for the handicapped. This is a little bit swankier. I liked the larger rooms, specifically the closets and the bathrooms. They had a very large recreation room, and a nice library area. Their grass was a little bit higher than I would have appreciated, but there's extenuating circumstances now with COVID. They have a lot more outdoor space. I give it a five because it was a larger outdoor space. The dining area was fine. It was larger. They did have plants in there, which made it homey. They have kind of a bay window in their large windows with lots of plants; and I'm a plant lover. It was very nice. They did not have tablecloths on the tables, however."

"Highland Cashier's Hospital Inc. is clean; it's being remodeled right now. It's very clean, the staff is very helpful, and the food is good. This one was the most convenient for my aunt because it is close to where my mother lives. "

"My dad was at Macon Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They're very nice, but I can't say that I love them immensely. They treated my dad well, and they loved him, too, but he got bedsores there, and I blamed that on the facility. I loved them as people, but I don't think that they had enough staff. They were very kind to my dad. They thought he was a precious guy, but because they were understaffed, it was hard for them to keep track of him. He stayed in his wheelchair almost all day, and that's how he got the bedsores. There was no TV in the room, so my dad couldn't watch TV unless he rolled out to the nurse's station, and that's where he liked to stay because he likes watching the news all day. The facility was a one-story building, and it was old. It was not in my opinion the best place to have him, but it was the only place we could put him at the time. However, it was the most expensive place in my book. I think it was too much money for what they didn't give. It was too high."

"My father was a resident at this facility after he needed additional care in his later years. I found the staff to be very helpful and above all incredibly friendly when dealing with patients and family of patients. People went out of their way to take care of anything we needed. They were pleased to answer any questions or find someone who could answer our questions. I noticed they really cared as well, my father was very difficulty to feed and needed to be hand fed. The nurse never lost her patience with him and made sure to get him to eat something. "

"We moved mom at Wilkinson Center, and it was her choice. She had several friends already in the facility. They have different activities every day. The place is very clean, and they even go and clean their rooms once a week. The staff all seemed great. Overall, the facility is very nice. "

"Chatuge Regional Nursing Home is a blessing. The people that work at CRNH have real heart for the residents and their well being. My father has been a resident for two years now and has had some health issues that have been resolved as a result of access to good doctoral care. He is doing well and enjoys his "home" away from home and this gives the family encouragement and comfort. The care is structured and ongoing and you can be as involved in your loved one's care through all important 3 month Care Plan meetings where overall health of the resident is discussed and procedures are always tuned to the resident's needs. The setting of the home is in the beautiful N.E. Georgia Appalachian Mountains and the views are awesome and inspiring. I can truly say, Chatuge Regional Nursing Home has been a god-send for my family and for me. "

"Brasstown Manor had very nice and spacious one-bedroom apartments, full-sized kitchens with full-sized appliances, nice and large bathrooms, walk-in showers with seats, double closets, very large bedrooms, and a balcony that’s like a little patio area. It was actually the cheapest of everything I’ve looked at, and that’s why I went to visit it. The only thing was it didn’t have handicapped parking close to the entrance, which didn’t make sense to me. They even had washer and dryer hookups in the apartment unit and basically everything I wanted. They offer good transportation service to doctors’ appointments, food, shopping, entertainment, field trips, and things. They had a nice clubhouse, game room, and a good activity schedule. There wasn’t anything there that they didn’t have. The only thing that they didn’t have was a pool. They had a library, a beautiful lobby with TVs, and very comfortable recliners. It’s beautiful. I’m a retired woodshop teacher, and they have absolutely beautiful antiques spread throughout the whole facility. "

"My grandmother has lived in Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa for 3 years. She moved there when she had a hip replacement and could no longer care for herself without a risk of falling. I have been visiting her regularly on Mondays and Thursdays since she was moved there. She is taken care of very well and I have no complaints regarding her care. The facility provides for regular activities for the residents including bingo and a book club.She initially had trouble adjusting to living in a long term care facility. Being in a new setting and meeting new people was initially difficult for her; however, her roommate quickly became good friends with her and has helped her to cope with the life change.Her nurses and CNAs treat her well and neither she nor myself have had any complaints with the way that they care for her. It was a difficult decision to make initially but with our families busy schedule we had to make the choice, and I believe that we made the right one. She has had no falls or incidence occur during her stay with the facility. "

"We went to look at Grandview Manor Care Center. The staff was very helpful, kind, and answered our questions. I enjoyed talking with her and being there. The rooms were kind of small but seemed OK. The staff showed us the library. They have games and different activities for the clients that are there."

"I'm currently at Wilkinson Care Center. This is a very nice facility. If you want to eat in your room, they'll bring your meals to you. If not, you can go to the dining room. This is a very nice facility because of the people that work here, they're so concerned with everything about you. They check on you and they make sure if you need assistance that you get assistance. It is just a nice facility. My room is like an efficiency apartment. I have a small kitchen. I have a microwave and a sink in it, and I have a small refrigerator. In the bigger room is my furniture that I brought with me. I have a little dining room table and two chairs. I have two chest drawers. When my husband was in this room with me, we had a queen-sized bed, but since he's not here, I've gone to a twin bed. I make quilts and I have a little place where I can sew now so that I could bring my hobby with me. They have some rooms where you can have an extra bedroom. So if your grandchildren would come, they could spend the night with you. They have two-bedroom apartments. We had Silver Sneakers. We had one day where we did exercise, and even people in wheelchairs would come and exercise their arms and everything. We always have puzzles in a little room down there. It's kind of like a little sitting room, but it's got plenty of tables. We always have puzzles where anybody who likes to do puzzles can come and work on them. We have a little gym with some exercise equipment, and then we have the larger dining hall. Breakfast is at 7:00, lunch is at 11:00 and dinner is at 4:00. That's a little early for me for every one of those. Their workers worked from 7:00 to 7:00, so I know that's why they put that on there so they could get through with the dinner things before it was time for them to go home. But I'm very happy here. The staff are very good. They have an activity director. They raised the price about three months ago for the first time in four years, so that sounds very good to me. According to other places I checked, this is about the cheapest price you can get for what you get out of it."

"My mom is now in rehab at Habersham Home. I think it’s pretty darn good actually, and the staff is good. I’m there quite often. They are currently upgrading and painting, which is good because it needs a good upgrade, and they’re working on that right now. It has a little garden. They do a good job with my mom. It’s not easy work, but they certainly do a good job with it. "

"I visited this facility and my mom is moving in here. I particularly chose this facility because they have an Alzheimer's care unit. My daughter also works here and so she can look after my mother. The staff was good and accommodating. Although this facility is a bit expensive, i like the care that they provide and the location of the facility. I guess my mom will like it here and she'll be fine. I would recommend this facility especially if your loved one is dealing with Alzheimer's. "

"Approximately four weeks ago, we moved my mother-in-law in a secured section of Foothills Manor. This section is for their Alzheimer's patients. We got her in a private room, which is very spacious. It has a nice bath. Everything is very lively and open. I have not actually eaten any of the food, but when we visited her, she says it is pretty good. She is happy being in that facility. "

"My mother is in Magnolia Hills. The staff has been great since she's been there. We would highly recommend it. She really enjoys the food; it's good. It's very clean and very organized. They have church service and activities during the week that people can participate in."
