My mom is staying at Blue Heron Health and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. She is in the skilled nursing facility right now. It's private, and she's got a room to herself. Her progress is not too good, but the facility itself is good. They have activities and they've got movie nights and stuff. However, I'm having a hard time getting answers from people. I don't know if it's because she's new there, and I've got a lot of phone calls waiting for answers. It's a newer facility. It's kept very nice and clean.

Our Mother was moved from a long hospital stay to Blue Heron Skilled Nursing Facility. Prior to her being moved, we did all we could to ensure she was going to a great facility that would work with her to assist her in regaining her strength so that she could safely integrate back in to her home and her community. We toured the facility and were told they would work with our mother at least two to three hours per day for up to 20 days and then we could appeal to the insurance company (United) if she needed longer than 20 days. We were told they had other residents that had great success in getting many extensions on their physical therapy needs. Unfortunately, we found a lot of what we were told was blatantly untrue. First, she was only given PT/OT for 30 minutes per day, and only Monday - Friday with no PT on weekends. Secondly, we were told they would work with her to make sure she could safely walk around her home and that she would receive Physical Therapy to get her stronger and Occupational Therapy to make sure she could get in and out of her car (as a passenger) safely and that they would work with her to make sure she could complete nominal tasks like getting herself a glass of water and microwaving a meal. NONE of these things occurred. She was left for HOURS at a time lying in her own waste when no one came to help her to the restroom. She would call and call for assistance and no one would come. She received very minimal therapy (walking on a walker with a belt assist) and NO assistance with actual rehabilitation. Moreover, they rushed her out of the facility in a little over a week with barely any explanation as to why. Had we known, we would have skipped “Unskilled Nursing Care” and taken her directly home where she would have received more thorough and comprehensive physical therapy and nursing care. Throughout our mother’s stay, we made phone calls and asked for return calls and updates multiple times from several facility staff members and NONE were returned. We know that you care for your loved one and want the best care for them. Blue Heron will NOT provide that. You would be well served to avoid putting your loved one at this facility as they do not and will not do what they say. Even something as simple as changing the calendar and putting the names of those caring for your loved ones on the white board in the room is beyond them. RUN. AWAY! QUICKY! Find another alternative! From our perspective , Blue Heron might be pretty on the outside but it is a nightmare on the inside!

I was sent to Blue Heron after my stay in the hospital. I can't say enough good things about the staff in rehab and the medical team on the rehab floor. They are very compassionate. I have now transitioned into long term care and again can't say enough wonderful things about the team. The rooms are all private which is very nice along with it being cleaned on a daily basis, along with activities. Erik is my caseworker and has made this transition much easier always answered my questions and was extremely helpful. Definitely would recommend Blue Heron!

I'm very pleased with Blue Heron Health and Rehabilitation Center. My relative has been there for three weeks. The food is phenomenal. They're great. What I love about them is that they are so caring. They usually choose their meal the day before, but my relative went in that night from the hospital, so she didn't choose her meal. And when I asked the nurse about it, he said, she'll get what's on the menu for today. And I looked at the menu, but I don't think she'll eat those. He said that was okay because they had a secondary menu that she could choose from, and sure enough, within 20 minutes he brought the secondary menu. No problem. The quality and the presentation of the food is good, too. The room is clean and spacious. All the equipment is there. It's a nice place. They keep it nice, and it doesn't smell at all. The staff is great. I don't think there's a negative about the staff at all. I have not met one staff that has not been compassionate or friendly. They have activities, too. They have card games. They have those dance things and community get-togethers. There is an activity schedule for every day of the month. There are four or five activities during the day. My relative hasn't been able to participate in them only because her rehab is going slow, but that's because of her. The only thing I don't like is that the main dining room is open for a two-hour period. They open it up at a specific time and people go to dinner at that time. And I just wish it were more open and that they would be able to go and come whatever time they wanted. But I think they do it because it provides socialization. That makes sense because it forces people who are in assisted living not to stay in their rooms.

Best decision I ever made. Fractured my shoulder and live alone so came to the Blue Heron Re-habilitation center. The rooms were spacious with a private bath and shower. The EVS team kept the room spotless. PT and OT were amazing. Jordan and Janine were exceptional and kept me on track to be able to go home faster. They were very pleasant and knew what they were doing. The nursing staff was exceptional. Ashley and Wykinda took exceptional care of me. I actually miss both of them. The CNAs took care of all my needs, Yolanda and Audio were kind and took care of any need I had. I would highly recommend this facility for re-habilitation and assisted living. They are top notch!!!

The rooms are attractive and cleaned daily. The food is passable but repetitious; how many ways can you cook chicken? most beef is poorly presented. I eat a lot of hamburgers. Staff is usually pleasant and helpful. Laundry frequently loses clothing and getting it replaced is difficult.
