I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm at Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center. The upkeep and the room are very good. I've only been here three days. I've been to the dining room twice, and I've been to the physical therapy room once. The dining room is very nice. They have tablecloths on the table, and it's very nice. And there's a young lady who does activities there. It's well controlled. She knows the residents that are here, and she knows them by name. She's very nice to everyone. That's important because if you don't have family coming to visit, it's important that somebody at least treats you nicely. Yesterday, there was bingo. At the end of the month, they do birthday celebrations for anybody who has a birthday. On Friday, there was a wine and cheese celebration, which of course is not real wine. And so far, the food is pretty good. With regard to cleanliness, from what I've seen coming in and out of my room, it's clean and neat and everything.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is in Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center for rehab. The nurse that I dealt with last night was amazing. She was very, very nice, she was very loving with her, and gave her good care for that moment. I did experience her, so she was very kind and it was very orderly. When I walked in, it was quiet, it was nighttime, so everybody was in their rooms. I guess some of these patients are mobile, they could come out of their rooms. I saw a lady sitting in a hallway in her wheelchair, and she's half dozed off and could fall off the chair, and there's no one around. So I don't know if they have cameras where they could see if their patients are coming out of the room and if they're in harm. I know there's good security. The patients can't get out on their own to harm themselves while the doors are locked and secured with keypads, so no one could get out and harm themselves if they try to get out. The people that are on staff were kind and friendly. There are not a lot of staff members. I mean, it's a very quiet time, it's a nursing home. She had a lady next to her, she had other things, and she had an armoire where she could put her clothes in. I brought her clothes last night so she could wear them, 'çause she had a gown on. She just has her bed, a little nightstand next to her, and her table, where her food will go when they bring it, and then her little armoire. And then if she chooses to watch TV, there's a TV above her and a phone next to her. So I mean, there's nothing harmful. It's safe. It was clean.

I visited this facility

We checked Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center. They take all kinds of patients there. As far as the cleanliness, I wouldn't say it's immaculate, but it's decent. A lot of the patients were just sitting in the hallway waiting to get in for lunch and things like that. The staff members were OK. They had different kinds of activities like arts and crafts, bingo, and music.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The discharge process from the hospital is very confusing ( where will my loved one go, what will her insurance cover, will she be taken care of?) The team at Flagler Health and Rehab was so accommodating. Always answered my questions with ease. They really know their stuff! Very intelligent nurses who teach the patient and gamily how to care for the patients when they discharge. My aunt was there and couldn't walk, by the time she was discharged, she was walking with a walker. The insurance help up her medical equipment delivery and they actually let us borrow the equipment to make sure she was safe and then when ours was finally delivered, they sent someone to pick it up! We didn't have to lift a finger. All the staff from nurses, cnas, housekeeping, and even front office really do care about the patients.

Flagler Pines and its staff are very good. The food is bad quality, and my husband always eats in a small dining area, not the big one. The rooms are small and need updating. The care is very good, but the facility is old and needs updating. They have a full calendar of activities posted that looks good.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I had hip surgery and went there for rehab spent 20 days in their facility noticed many violations reported to management I was told that a person that's 85 sees things differently that from a person that's 45 !.standard of care should remain the same regardless of age nationality or creed or religion.never ever again,!,

My mother is in Flagher nursing home now. It was close to home, she likes it a lot, and I was happy with that. It’s very homey, and they have all kinds of stuff. My father has been there before, and we like the facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Hi my name is Kindel and my boyfriends grandmother was put in this nursing home. They Staff was very caring and made sure she had everything she wanted. Also whenever one of the family members had a problem with something it was addressed as soon as possible it was never ignored like I have seen at so many other nursing homes. The only problem that there was would be the doctors they did not want to hear the thoughts of the family members which at times caused lots of problems. The rest was great. The therapy people were amazing they had her back to using her tounge and walking in no time. We loved everything about the facility from there great manners to there caring about there patience. I have a lot of respect for them. If I ever had to recommend someone to a nursing home it would be Flagler pines they were amazing and they not only cared about there patient but the family members emotions and feelings also and wanted to make sure they were also happy with the family's opinion on the care I would have to say the best nursing home I have seen so far very happy with them.

I visited this facility

The staff were friendly, though a few of them seemed to expect all elderly people to have some form of dementia. I noticed them ignoring a woman with multiple sclerosis that was asking to be taken outside to smoke, and treating her like a child. I went outside with her and realized she understood everything that goes on and was simply just slower with communicating as her disease progressed. This in particular is why I could not give them 5 stars. They had a lot of social gatherings for the residents, including daily tea and cookies time, birthday parties, field trips for those able, and allowed multiple faith denominations to hold service. There was a nail and hair salon on site, as well as physical and occupational therapists. They were frequently visited by nursing and PTA students as a clinical site, providing extra hands and closer attention to the residents. The residents were happy to be able to go outside. I feel they were shortstaffed for the number of residents they had, but no want went unheard, albeit slower than many would have liked.

Ups and downs

Older building but caring staff, on the whole. Food was decent for residents/visitors. Therapists probably the best factor. Viewing a patient's overall program and looking ahead with them or their family to reach a particular goal, is not the strong suit of the nursing or case management departments, it seems. Administrator was very candid and quick to help address this shortcoming. "Nursing home odor" of a few years back is vastly improved but cigarette smoke is very strong in rooms and halls due to mngmnt allowing smokers immed. outside main doors and staff's clothing also can reek of it. Otherwise, staff seems to be personal and friendly, on the whole. As always, family must oversee carefully. And property losses by residents are apparently not covered by facility !! ?
