I toured Prospect Park Living Center. It's for full nursing care. It was a fairly nice facility. It seemed adequate for our needs with my mother. The rooms were pretty standard nursing home rooms. I would say they're borderline between a hospital room and a residential assisted living room. They handle more severe cases where nursing is needed more than just the assisted living. It is adjacent and in the same building as the medical center, so they have access to a lot of medical support there. It was in good shape. It's a beautiful place. They have a cage with birds in the lobby, and a lot of the residents like to go out there and sit with them. They have a nice outdoor area for the residents as well. The place, overall, its appearance, maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness was very good. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and informative.

My father was admitted there after a fall at home. He's been independently living until 6 days ago. He was a healthy 89 year old guy who was/is the primary caregiver for our mom. He's been treated like an old man with no independence before this happened. They don't work aggressively with him at all and he's gotten very little sleep there. To top it off, he fell today and is back in the ER because he hit his head. Some of the staff members are very compassionate, but I've also heard some very inappropriate comments from others. I'm an RN so I'm EXTREMELY critical. If you can get your older relatives to another skilled rehab facility, do it.
