"We like Magnolia Place. Unfortunately, my father-in-law's needs were more than they were able to provide. They had amazing staff, and the facility was beautiful. I love the staff. I love the involvement that they offer. They have a lot of activities, and everything was clearly posted. The amenities were incredible. They have a barbershop on site, they have people who come in and help with things, and they do group outings. So that was great. I don't think that there was anything that I liked least about it. We didn't eat anything, but we went through the dining area, and the food smelled wonderful. The staff members were incredible. I could not say enough about them. Kathy, who gave our tour while we were there, was incredibly helpful and very friendly."

"We toured Solstice Senior Living at Bakersfield. I was impressed with what I saw. My first impression of the place when I walked in was that I liked the dining and reception areas. Then, as we went to the rooms, the hallways looked inviting. They didn't look scary, and the rooms were nice. We looked at a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. The staff member who helped with the tour was very nice and kind. The room was clean and had a small amount of furniture in it for display, like a queen-sized bed in the one-bedroom. In the living room there was a table with a TV on it, a refrigerator, and a microwave. There was closet space and a window view. They gave us a nice, welcoming card or gift. It was really nice."

"Ivy Park at Seven Oaks was outstanding. It's beautifully clean and the staff was wonderful. The residents were very friendly. I was able to talk with them quite a bit. They were allowed to bring their dog, and I think that is fundamental when you're older. They were very attentive to everyone too."

"Ivy Park at San Lauren would get fives across the board. They seem to have a lot of amenities and a lot of activities. They were able to accommodate us early. We had a young lady who was in charge of the memory care. Nothing bad to say about her, but it felt like she wasn't normally the one to give the tours, that's all. The good part about that was that everything she told us was very genuine because you could tell that it was not rehearsed. We walked down the hall, and she would start talking about what went on and what the hall was, so it was nice to get almost like a fresh introduction to the facility."

"I loved everything about Brookdale Riverwalk. It would be a very nice place to retire. The apartment was very spacious, very bright, and very clean. They had everything you would expect in an independent living place for seniors. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful. Brookdale Riverwalk looked like a very high-end hotel. It's very nice. However, its location is close to the freeway."

"My brother is at Arvin Post Acute. The place is clean and has physical therapists and occupational therapists right there at the center. He also likes the food. However, we really had a rocky start with the staff. He was hospitalized twice in the first week he was there. They were not on top of his needs for his diabetes, and part of it, I believe, is the nursing staff, and part of it is probably the doctor's response. It just took a few weeks to get the nurses to understand what his needs were and to accommodate them. It kind of feels like there was a lack of experience with the nursing staff. My brother can at least advocate for himself, although sometimes he can't. I am not sure about how they navigate when a patient can't advocate for themselves and state what their needs are. It's just kind of concerning that we probably need more hands on deck there. I don't know the experience extent of the staff, but it kind of felt like it was more of a training ground. The nursing station is centrally located, so all of the hallways are right there. I like that they have physical therapy on-site. They also provide my brother with transportation for his dialysis, which is only just two minutes away from the facility. We've had some problems with that one time when he had to wait about two hours for his ride to get back to the nursing home. One time, one of the nurses also had to wheel him there in his wheelchair because there was no transportation, so that's kind of iffy. We can't really depend on it 100%."

"I would like to thank all the staff at Parkview Julian Facility for providing great services to my elderly mother as a patient there. Staff accommodated my mothers needs. Facility was clean and staff very friendly. "

"Cobble Stone Residential Home Care was very nice and clean. They got a friendly and competent staff. The room they had was nice, open, and furnished. Everything was well taken care of. What I liked the most about it was it was a home and not a facility. It had a small number of residents, so I liked it better."

"My mother is in Jasmin Terrace at Bakersfield. It's bigger than it looks from the street. From the street, it looks very small, but it goes back in a big triangle and has a kind of courtyard in the center of it. It's very simple. It's not a fancy place. It's very clean. They come in and sweep and mop and dust my mom's apartment every day. The staff is extremely friendly. She has a pull cord, and when she pulls it, they come right away and assist her to go to the restroom. They bring her meals to her room. She has a lot of difficulty walking. They would wheel her to the dining room if she wanted to go, but she didn't want to. I know they offer bingo. They offer certain movies in the dining hall. They offer wheelchair aerobic kind of things. They've been just extremely good to her. It's not perfect, but I feel really good about them. It's very good. She's very happy to be there."

"I visited Pinewood Glen Senior Retirement Community. They'll do the housekeeping, your towels and your sheets, but you do your personal laundry. They have a chef, but I'm on a special diet and their food wouldn't be something that I could eat and it's included in my payment. The place was clean. I visited with a few of the people that live there and they were nice. It was a place that I could possibly go to, but I walk with a cane and a walker. There's a lot of steps walking around and it's two stories. The single apartments are on the bottom and the lofts are on the second floor. There were 99 apartments. The staff was very nice. She accommodated the questions that I had and answered them for me. It was a nice experience. I felt safe in the location. It was just like some other apartment building. They lock the doors at 5:00, and they have a keycard, so if you're out after that, you can come back in. It was a nice atmosphere."

"Summer Springs Board and Care is really good. It's managed by a family and the people that run it lives on site. It's owned by a couple, an RN and a physical therapist. The in-laws are the licensed caregivers. It's very family-oriented. When dad gets restless, they take him for a ride in a car or takes him to their house for a little while and gives him the change of scene. It's not as fanciest, but they really care about the people. They never know when I'm coming because I go different days and different hours. They have stationary bike and he rides that, he can go for a walk, and they play games with him. They bathe him and make sure he's clean. He's eating and he's happy. They bring him to church on Sunday. He gets two free rides to doctors during the month, and that's unusual. They do the laundry. I told them I'll take the laundry I'm going to do it, and they do it. So I can't believe how bless I was to find them. They kept their word on everything. So I'm very happy. "

"My mother was at this assisted living facility for two and a half years - both she and I were very pleased with all aspects of Hallmark. (My mother had mid-stage Alzheimer's, diabetes, and other issues.) The staff was always warm & welcoming, as well as competent. The food was varied and simply great! I often joined my mother for dinner or holiday meals. Although COVID-19 put a damper on a lot of things, Hallmark usually provides live entertainment, games, and other activities. Church services of different types are held on the premises. A beauty salon is also on the premises. I greatly appreciated the genuine caring of the staff regarding sensitive & emotional issues. My mother thrived during her stay here."

"Mom has been at The Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield for seven weeks now and is really improving a great deal. I really like them. It is very clean, without odor, and effective. There is a nurse and at least two CNAs dedicated to my mom 24 hours a day. They have three activity directors and a really good occupational and physical therapy department. They have a full-time, 24/7 doctor, plus X-rays. They are very good and very conscientious. Everybody is treated with respect and dignity. I always see the staff doing something to keep the place healthy, sanitary, and safe. There are only 100 beds and three nurses' stations. So, there's a very high ratio of nursing care to patients."
