Villa Serena Senior Apartments is like a community. There are people that I can talk with here. I am not living all by myself in the sense that I see people, I can walk my dog, and meet other people walking their dogs. The staff has been fine. The facility is pretty good. One of the things that bothered me and maybe I should have mentioned that, is I had to pay for August. I moved in here on August 25th but to get the apartment and to get it at a reasonable price, I had to start paying on August 5th. So, I paid almost a full month's rent here. The other thing is I have a support dog and they're not supposed to charge a deposit for the support dog, but mysteriously, instead of having to put down a $500 deposit, they decided to make it a $1,000 deposit. It was very difficult working with the staff before I got here. They were not very understanding and they said, "Well, maybe you should go someplace else." every time I had a problem, and mentioned it. After I got here, they were good, but they were very independent and didn't seem to care much whether I came here or not. The facilities are OK, but they're small. The walls and so forth have been touched up and I don't know what the bathtub is made of (some sort of a paint or covering). It's not like a regular bath that I'm used to and I noticed this morning there were a couple of chips in it. That won't happen with the regular bathtub. It can last 30 or 40 years. Because they were pushing me and hurrying me and told me I had to get the money in, I had to sign the papers and all this other stuff before I got here. I had to sign this thing that said that the property was in excellent condition. They had a whole list of things and I had to sign that even though I didn't have a chance to inspect the property beforehand. I've noticed several things where the paint job is not great on the walls in some places. The activities they have is one of the reasons why I moved here. They have barbecues about once a month. It's one of the barbecues where they supply some items, like hot dogs, but it's more of those bring your own type. On the 11th, Taco Man is going to be here at 3 p.m. and it costs $9 for the tacos. They have insurance companies coming in. There are a couple of them. There's Anthem and Medicare. There's also Verizon Network, which is for the television and computer. So, they have these different groups coming in and giving talks. They have bingo, which I will not participate in. Then they have free donuts and coffee every Friday. It looks like the price was the best that I was able to determine in the area. Not to say that it was good. It was expensive, but in Chino, things are kind of expensive. Rentals are expensive (maybe because it's a 45-minute drive from Los Angeles), but I think this is about the best that I could find in the Chino area.
