"We're looking at a place called Heartland House. The community itself was very nice, very clean, and very organized. The director is the one that gave us a tour of the place. The small one-bedroom apartment my mom was looking at for assisted living was wonderful. It was very nice, and it had everything that would meet her needs. They had a very nice dining facility, and it seemed comfortable there. It was pretty full; they had one room available. The room was very good, it was empty, so she has to furnish her own bed and all that, but it was very clean and there were lots of very big rooms. They had a bulletin board with all the activities going on for the day. They had movies, they had a Halloween thing going on, and they had a religious service that was going to be that day. My mom, she's diabetic and she needs her foot taken care of (like toenails need to be clipped), I know they offered all those services. They had a beauty salon there. They had laundry facilities there that she could use. My mom would pretty much be getting three meals a day there, but she would be able to cook in her own apartment. She had a full-range refrigerator, microwave, and all that, but somebody would check on her every day, and of course, I would do, too. But about her diabetic needs, for exactly those needs, they do offer that, but she doesn't need that right now. Our experience with this facility was very good."

"Patriot Place Assisted Living is a new facility. It was much more modern compared to the other facilities. It was very nice. There were no vacancies, and I did not get to see a room that was empty, but the staff was very helpful there. They weren't able to give me a full tour. I went early in the morning, so breakfast was being served, but the common area where everybody eats was full. I could see that people were getting assistance with eating. It looked very well staffed, that was my impression on that. The staff who assisted me was good and very accommodating. They were kind of apologetic because they didn't have a room to show me, but I understood. They have very nice common area with a big screen TV. People were watching TV, so it seemed more community like. The facility was really nice. It was much newer and more modernized."

"The head person was not all that nice and did not seem concerned. Another person is in charge at this time. I visited this place once a week minimum. There was always a new person hired. Rooms were not cleaned that well. There was always cobwebs and a layer of dust on everything, etc. My Grandmother had fallen at one point, bruised + had a gash on her arm. The staff was not that helpful. I bandaged the wound. Later, I went home to get some carpet cleaner to clean up the blood on the carpet. I stayed with Grandma for awhile after that and nobody came to check on her. Unqualified and understaffed seemed to be the norm. Just can't believe rent was almost $2000.00 a month for a very small room and next to no assistance. Nobody seemed to like the food. They did have a bunch of activities on a regular basis. That was nice. "

"We visited the assisted living level of Rosemore Village. When I took the tour, I was impressed with the people that we met and the caregivers. The place itself was very homey, and the rooms were spacious. They offer a variety of activities for their residents. The residents are like family, and it's kind of what came across to me, that they show enough compassion and care. That was our first impression. The activities and amenities seemed pretty good to me. I definitely think this place is worth taking a look at."

"KindredHearts seemed really nice. There were independent rooms with living rooms and a little kitchenette and a bedroom and bathroom that were on a lower level. It seemed like a really nice size. We saw a studio type apartment in the assisted living part of the facility that was a nice size, as well. The peopled seemed very nice. They had a dining room that looked really clean and nice, plus an activity room and sitting room that looked really comfortable. It was very clean and orderly. "

"My husband has been at Copperleaf for almost two months now. It is next door to nursing care. They seem to be fine and have a very nice facility. The CNAs are caring and nice; unfortunately, as with most places, there aren’t enough of them. They have one-room, furnished units with bathrooms in the room. They give you three meals a day and have a large-screen TV that the residents can watch if they are able. They have Christian services on Sunday, which is nice. The staff is very nice. On the whole, I’m thankful. My husband is on hospice because he can get nursing care for anything he needs and has access to a doctor by phone, which is good. It is a retirement center, but they have many levels of care. Several of the people are in wheelchairs or use walkers. "

"Fountain View is a very caring community. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They are very kind and generous. You can tell that every one on the staff loves their jobs because of the smiles on their faces. Like most other nursing homes they have an activity time. There are several different games they play. My daughter likes to jump in and play when the residents are rolling the giant ball to each other. The residents enjoy her playing with them too. We also enjoy their giant bird cage full of finches. We could sit for hours watching them. There's also several other games we play with the residents like board games, card games, and puzzles. Fountain View is a very clean, organized place. Everything is always very well put together. It's just like home; there's comfortable places to sit, a TV that the residents are able to watch together, and a fancy dining area that most, but not all, of the residents ate in. Some would eat in their rooms and others in front of the big TV. The food is very delicious. Once in awhile I would be there on an off day and the food wouldn't be very good, but all in all I loved it. I always loved looking through my grandmas window when she was there because of the view. You could see the school children playing out in the field next door and the birds, once in while a squirrel or rabbit, eating at the bird feeders. Several residents chose to have feeders put outside their window so they could watch, but others didn't. I think its nice that the residents can have that feature. Overall Fountain View is a great place for the elderly to stay at. I would highly recommend it to anyone. "

"My mother was in Prairie Place Assisted Living. It was good as a nursing home and for assisted living. Overall, it's a pretty decent place. She liked the food there, the place was quite lovely, and she had a nice sized room for a really good price. It looked pretty clean, and the staff members I met were extremely nice."

"I liked Maplecrest. The apartment was very clean. The staff was very cordial. They had activities. I knew that the people were happy there. "

"We like the location. They've got a patio that has a roof over it. They play bingo, cards, and they have people come in and sing with the residents. It's perfect. The food is very good. We spent my dad's birthday in my mother's room. She has a card table and four chairs in there in case she gets company. She has a TV in her room with cable. We got all her clothes in her closet, and her clothes are washed individually, not washed with anybody else's."

"My Mother was very well treated at Park Vista Waupaca. She made many friends, both staff and residents. "

"Uncle Art received great care during the last years of his life from the staff at Bethany. He was a very active senior until he suffered a stroke at the age of 90. At Bethany he was treated with utmost respect and was able to maintain daily contact with family and friends. It was also very important to him to be able to come to a Christian environment that allowed him to stay active in practicing his faith. I cannot thank everyone at Bethany enough! "
