"Gardens of Wetumpka was a very nice place for assisted living, and I loved it. Everything about the place was great. The staff was awesome and excellent. She knew what she was doing and looked like she loved the place."

"My father is at Goodwater Healthcare Center. They're very attentive and they pay very close attention to the people there. He has only been there a week and I haven't come across anybody who was hateful or mean at all. They always seem very cheery, very helpful, and very sweet. For a diabetic, they don't pay close attention to that part. They gave him a cupcake with a lot of sugar on it. Of course, I threw that out because his sugar is extremely high, but I think that was just an oversight. His room is a little outdated. They keep it very clean. They have a common area, and they have a little aviary bird area that is encased in plexiglass, so they get to see birds. There's a TV, a couch, and a couple of chairs, and it's always clean. The only problem I had was the communication part. When I'm there, they communicate just fine. My stepmother and stepsister are the only ones that have permission to have a code to get in the building and I have to knock every time or ring a bell for someone to let me in. I don't like the fact that they have to ask their permission for me to see my own father. I don't like that, but that's the only thing so far. "

"The food at Spring Terrace Assisted Living was good. The rooms were nice and big. My aunt had a private bathroom. She was very comfortable there. The staff was very nice. However, they're not quite as accommodating. The person needs to fit the institution instead of the other way around. They're a little more institutionalized and have more rules that they're pretty strict about. She lived there for about three weeks. She got in trouble there. They're not as accommodating, but I understand. I'm not angry about it or anything. She did something and they didn't like it and she got put in the geriatric psych unit. They weren't dirty, just certain areas were not as clean as they could have been. They have a pond out front. It's very reasonably priced."

"I want to give a shout out to the Sylacauga Health and Rehab for a wonderful caring facility for those in our community who need long-term nursing care and for those in need of temporary rehabilitation. I have visited several friends through the years in the facility. Some who were there for health reasons and some for rehabilitation. Each time I've entered the reception area, I've been welcomed by friendly staff and volunteers. The air is freah, the rooms are neat and clean, and the staff encouages the residents to bring personal belongings from home to make them comforatable during their stay. Fun actitivities and special events are provided for the residents and families to interact with each other. It is a happy place!!"

"We went to The Veranda at Lake Martin. We like it because it's a small place. It's very homey. It makes you feel like you're at home. My mom gets one-on-one care and she likes it there. And that's the main thing. As long as my mom likes it there, I'm happy. She has a room with an adjoining bathroom with all the assisted living stuff like bench seats in the shower, and all the amenities she needs to help her. She can still walk. So she can get around in her room. And she just likes her private room. They have indoor activities like bingo, singing, card playing, and a pool table. They also have entertainment within the facility. I don't keep up with the outside activities because my mom doesn't care to go anywhere anyway."

"My mom was at Wetumpka Health and Rehabilitation, LLC. To begin with, she was first there during the COVID pandemic. At that time, the people were so kind. Every room had big windows. That gave me a very good impression that they were taking such care to make sure their people got to see their families. More recently, within the past three years, my mom ended up having to go there for health reasons. That was the second time she had badly broken her ankle and had to have surgery, and so she went there for rehab. They took very good care of her. They made sure that we were able to go in and visit, and they made sure everything was safe and secure, and that she was never wet or messy, and that she was well cared for. She had dementia, so there was only so far you could go in talking to her, but nobody was unkind to her. They were all very nice. That means something for her and her condition. My mom was in a double room. They tried to get her in a room with someone who was more her personality type, so they didn't just stick her in the room with somebody without any care about their feelings. So I was very happy with them. A lot of their activities she didn't get to do because of her dementia. She was pretty far gone. However, the people who lived there would be moving around, visiting each other. Their families would be visiting them, and they would go for walks together, mainly inside the facility because it was large. They always made sure they had what they needed. The lady and mom's room had a TV, and she made sure that mom could see it. At one point, Mom was in there for the holidays, and they decorated and made sure everybody got around to visit, like for Christmas visits. It was not bright, shiny, or new, but it was well-maintained. It wasn't ugly colors that would change your mood. They kept access to the facility very strictly monitored so that you didn't have to worry about somebody walking in, and these days, Lord knows what. I love the nurses. They gave us information when we needed something from the doctor, and we couldn't see the doctor. They kept us informed, but just like many places, they get a little overworked, and sometimes you could just see that they were tired. Some of the food is really good. They have a set menu every week. The facility is very pretty. It looks a little like a church. The decoration of the front with a portico has just enhanced familiarity from the outside."
