Hospicare and Palliative Care Services of Tompkins County

Three years ago my father was diagnosed with cancer and given less than a year to live. With the help of Hospicare's in-home palliative care, my dad was able to remain in the family home up until the very end of his life. The palliative care workers were incredibly kind and courteous and by the end they were almost like members of the family. It meant everything to my father that he was not only able to spend his last days sleeping in his own bed with his dog as his feet, but that he was able to pass on with dignity and with the least amount of ""trouble"" caused for his family as possible. 24 hours a day there was a nurse on-call if we had questions, and Hospicare offered a TON of options like music therapy and massage, as well as bereavement therapy for family members. I was really impressed by the genuine caring and kindness shown by everyone who worked there. It's a strongly community-based organization, and I strongly recommend it to anyone whose family may be going through a similar situation to mine.
