We went to The Magnolia and they offered memory care, dementia type person, geriatrics, and those kinds of stuff. They have a lot of activities for their patients, it's very clean and very neat. They have people coming to work with them on their memory exercises and they have a lot of things going on to keep the residents involved. They have a salon, where you get your hair done or you get a haircut. They have activity rooms where you could do what you're interested in. They have games for the people and outings where they could take them out on events like shopping. They have exercise too and a lot of other things. The residents can't go out because everything is locked. You can have a code for that. I've met the administrator and I've met some of the people that work there and it's a nice place. Expensive, but nice. They have dietitians and nutritionists to put together the menus. They showed how the food is prepared and everything is fresh. They get it fresh several times a week, depending on what they're cooking for that week. The place seemed pretty well organized and people seemed happy.

My mother-in-law moved into the Magnolia and it's very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, it's very clean, very nice, and has an open atmosphere. It's well maintained, it's easily accessible, it's away from the big, busy street, and so it's not noisy. Everybody is very accommodating.

The Magnolia is an assisted living facility, but it is also dementia focus, which is what I needed for my mother. It is a small facility and their rooms are like a motel room with microwave, refrigerator and sink. It was all handicapped accessible. It has a big bathroom. The room is not spectacular but it is nice and my mom brings her own furniture. It is big enough to put her full size bed, dresser, tv stand and a chair. The staff including housekeepers and nurses have at least 8 hours of specific dementia care, so they are trained to handle the patients with memory problems. I'm really impressed with how the staff deals with difficult people. My mother had been there 2 months and they have been getting out of their way to help her settle in. The food is more than adequate and homemade. I recommend this facility to others.
