"I visited Whitfield Nursing home, and it was a straight up convalescent home. It was a different level of care. It was an older building, revamped, but the aisles were pretty narrow, and it wouldn't be ideal. I saw some people interacting in their common area, but it didn't really take note of it. It seemed like the best place for what they are doing."

"All I can say is that if this nursing home rates mid or higher than most in Mississippi, this is sad. My mother was there for 10 months. Her room was always filthy. Floors, walls, baseboards. Her bed was always full of crumbs and used-up sheets. The floor was mopped with something that stuck to my sandals so bad I could hardly keep them on when visiting her. The food was awful. She was not encouraged to get out of her bed daily and go to the dining room. She was left and left and left. Until a family member went and encouraged her. She even had one LPN that grabbed her by the seat of the pants, drug her back to her room and told her meanly to get her walker. My Mother had a name for her, and I agree. No way to treat an elderly person. Luckily, my Mother died and didn't have to live here anymore. God forgive me for putting her there and trusting the people who are supposed to devote their life to caring for others. This is not what I saw. "

"I have never been a fan of nursing homes, especially the smell. I can't say this one doesn't have that smell, but it's not as prominent as most. The staff here was amazing. My grandmother was very lucky to have an old family friend on staff. That made her stay there much more pleasant. Cornerstone had a nice little game room, equipped with a pool table, checkers, and chess. The only problem with the game room is when i say little, i mean little. The smoke area was also very nice. There were beautiful flowers planted in this area along with good stone tables and benches. Most homes have the cheap picnic tables. The people there made visitors feel welcomed, but more importantly, they made the people staying there feel at home. Which is exactly how I would want to feel if I were to ever have to live in one. "

"Henderson Villas is very nice. My friend really likes it. The staff has been very helpful. The food is nice. She says that they don't serve a whole lot of food, but she can ask for seconds. The dining area is not huge; it's got about six tables that sit four people at each. Each time I've gone there's been something going on. Sometimes the people just sit out in the den and watch television or sit and talk. I didn't actually see anything. In the living room they have a piano, books, and crossword puzzles. They have a big screen TV with nice couches. The rates are very reasonable. She has a private room, a big walk-in closet, and a nice bathroom with a shower/tub area. It also has a window to see out and it's nice."

"I liked the friendliness of the people at Dogwood Corinth and I liked the rooms well, the way it was set up and everything. It was very clean and we spoke to some of the people that were staying there and they like staying there. They have a beauty salon and an activity area."

"The facility was in a very nice area in the rural TN coubtry. The people were very nice and the ratio of staff to patients was very close. It was connected to a private school where they had a large garden that produced fresh fruits and vegetables. They normally didn't serve it to patients but my grat grandmother had brought her juicer and they allowed her to have fresh juice daily. I think it is the nicer of the nursing homes that I have been to and the smell was not as bad as I had experienced at her previous home. "

"My brother lives in Middleton Senior Apartments. He has a one-bedroom with a connecting bath to it, and they feed him three meals a day. They do his laundry, change the sheets on his bed, and he's pleased with it. It's close to churches, because he goes to church every Sunday, and he likes the people. Most of them are older than he is, but he seems to be doing well with them. It has a big living room where you watch TV. They got lots of books and everything's nice, as far as the layout goes. The food is tasty and it's home-cooked every day. Supper/dinner is a lighter meal, and then lunch and breakfast are nice-sized meals. They're in the process of redoing the place, so after that's finished, it will probably be better, but it's clean and neat-looking. They clean every day and I'm very satisfied with them, too."
