Assisted Living Reviews for McKendree Village

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
There was a patient that tested positive for the COVID-19. The patient was my mother’s neighbor. They are not sanitary. They do not clean rooms on a daily basis, nor do they wear a mask or gloves. My mother has been there 2 months and they have forgot to order her prescriptions 3 times which meant my mother was without pain medics for atleast 24 hours! This place should be shut down.

We really liked McKendree Village. They have a nice-sized apartment for my parents. My parents wanted a two-bedroom and it had many closets and storage space which seemed to really impressed them. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. They invited us to eat in their very nice dining area, where you sit down and they wait on you. They had three choices of entrees, deserts, etc. Food was all very delicious. The other residents were like so excited and they were like, "Oh please move here, we would love to have you all." They were really sweet. They did have a list of all of their activities, which was a whole lot. They would take them out for excursions or even if it's just out to eat or to shop. They also have a really nice indoor pool that they can do Tai Chi and all in there. That would be really good for my mother but she didn't feel that she would be up to that. They also have all the exercise equipments. My dad was very interested in their indoor pool and their exercise equipments. They also have a nice chapel there inside. It is Methodist-based. In fact, this was the main reason why they chose that place to go and look at because my father is a retired Methodist minister. They really liked it.
This facility is a tower, so all the entrances are from the inside. The view from high up there is just out-of-this world. It is really beautiful. Overall, this really was a nice place and my parents were very happy with it. The only thing that they complained about was the smell of the hallways and how long and lonely those hallways seemed. That gave them a bad impression. Nevertheless, while my parents were there, they were all for it, but once they got back home, that's when they decided against it.

I visited this facility
Today was my first visit to this facility. Upon my initial walk through everyone looked happy. Very few people were just sitting in front of their Television. Most of the patients were up walking the halls or sitting in the common area chatting. On gentleman and his care giver were visitin with some of his family. I loved the at home feeling I got upon arrival to this facility. I have another visit scheduled for later this week so far this place is good. Staff was very professional but loving and caring towards the patients. One tech even took time to help the patient straighten his room.

Visited this facility
I have visited McKendree Manor and Towers on several occasions for different reasons throughout the years. I have an elderly grandmother who will eventually become a resident of this facility based on our visits there. I have found that the staff is attentive and takes the time to get to know each resident and their families. I have always been impressed that there was a pharmacy on site that carries a nice stock of durable medical supplies, and has a wonderful pharmacist that will answer all of your questions in plain and simple terms. My grandmother is excited about the hair and nail salon on site and the scheduled shopping trips. Mckendree offers 3 types of assisted living which is really neat. You can chose a private residence on the grounds, an apartment, or a full service nursing home if you need it. I have also seen first hand the safety protocols for a fire evacuation and was shocked at the efficiency that the staff was able to get everyone out doors and into safety. The only reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is that the food isn't that great.

If I could put zero stars I would. My mother was brought here from the hospital, and to say it was a real life nightmare would be putting it lightly. My mother was mistreated from the moment she got there. They forgot her medicine, then they gave her the wrong medicine, then they gave her the right medicine, but gave her DOUBLE the dosage she is supposed to have. This made her deathly sick, and their response was to blame her for not telling them the correct info. Then, when scared for her safety, I tried to pull her out of that retched place, and they threatened that if I tried to take her out of there they would claim insurance fraud. Thankfully a lawyer friend of mine helped me, and I was able to get my mother brought to safety. If you care for your loved ones at all, ensure they never step foot in this place.

My mom is in Mckendree Village. It's very nice and the staff is very nice and cooperative. My mom is 99 and is in hospice now. All of her food has to be pureed, but they do a great job.

My 86 year oldmom went there for post hospital rehab. I nearly walked out the minute I saw her room. Asthetically hideous; dirty walls and beat up furniture, TV's from the 1980's. There were help call alarm's going off constantly, which were not responded to. This seemed non-stop. How they expect people to be able to relax is beyond me. Asthetics are a part of rehab. They contribute to one's comfort and feeling of well being. They lost her clothing that was taken down for laundering, and we reported it missing several times. We didn't get it back until the day we left, (about seven days.) I have been told that there were well publicized problems with this facility, in the past. They had the audacity to ask me whether I wanted to transition her to their assisted living section. WHAT????

I visited McKendree Village for my mother. The facility was just too big and not as homey. Their rooms were more like hospital rooms and there was just nothing that felt like home. It was just more like a hospital.

I visited this facility
We chose McKendree Village because they have assisted living, nursing care, and memory care all on the same property, and it's close to my house. The place is great, and the staff members are very kind and helpful. My parents got a two-bedroom apartment, and they're very pleased with it. It's our top choice.

My in-laws are at Mckendree Village. I think it's wonderful and it's one of the lowest priced communities that we found. It's one of the few places we could find where my in-laws could live together. They have everything on-site. They have a doctor's office, a movie theater, a game room, two swimming pools, two workout areas, a barbershop, and a beauty shop. Everything is there onsite. They have a studio, a studio deluxe, a 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom available. The pricing is very reasonable.

McKendree Village exceeded our expectation. It’s on a 47 acre campus. They have about 200 independent residents in a 19 story tower. They have all kinds of activities; you can do two or three things. They have game rooms, coffee, and newspaper. Every week they take them to a local restaurant in Nashville and dine if you want to sign up for it. Their dining is open from 7AM to 8PM continuous with very extensive venue for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can go eat lunch at 3 in the afternoon. The people were friendly, there were people doing activities, we saw a sewing room, computer rooms with computers and printers. The coffee is free in the coffee room. They have medical people because they do have a skilled nursing on site, and there is a huge church on site and 7 acre woods for walking around. They have two to three things in the afternoon.

My daughter and I visited and took a tour. The apartments in both buildings, one being for independent living and the other assisted living are really nice and quite large. More than one resident spoke to us and said they love living at McKendree. The pool was great as was the other options like the art studio, coffee shop and general store. I believe this may just be my next home.

I am/was a resident of this facility
We just moved into McKendree Village. We chose this place because they have cottages that you can get into. You can rent cottages instead of going into a high-rise. Our house here is big. We have two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. It is about 1800 square feet. It is for me and my husband and our two dogs. We have the full kitchen and we also have a meal allowance that we can use each month. McKendree Village's dining area is cafeteria style for breakfast and lunch and sit-down for dinner. We tried their food before we went and it tasted fine. I think this community is excellent. The neighbors are nice. The maintenance crew is there if you need their help. They have a move-in coordinator that will be working with us for as long we want. They do have recreational activities. They have exercise classes available and Bible study classes. They have all sorts of things. I went a few weeks ago and saw an Elvis impersonator. The other night before we moved in, they were having outside movie.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
McKendree Village was near my brother's house, so we opted to have our mother checked in there. The staff were doing a good job with the residents. Although, one of the nurse practitioners in the facility doesn't listen to what I would suggest. Other than that, I had no problem at all.

We went to McKendree and I wouldn't even take my dog back to those folks. My mother was there for a little while before she had brain surgery and then she went back. They just didn't treat her well. They tried to pick her up where the incision was and tried to pull her by her neck to sit her up. The place is old and not taken care of. As for the food, they would grind it up but we asked them to stop doing that because my mom could eat regular food; but they kept at it. They were just horrible.

When we toured this facility, I noticed that the staff were all working very hard to make sure that we were taken care of and answered any questions that we had. I spoke with several patients and they each said that they did enjoy being here. One older gentleman even told me that he liked being there because he thought the nurses were pretty to look at, and even enjoyed looking at a couple of the other female patients! It seems like a really nice place.
