My parents were at Amherst Meadows for a month and a half. They were really good. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and very knowledgeable. She showed us everything. Because my mother didn't like her refrigerator, the staff changed it and got them a better refrigerator. She made sure everything was clean and ready to go. My parents got a carport, but they had to walk quite a distance to get to their apartment. If they could have parking closer, like in the center where all the trees are in their courtyard, I think that would be better for the people. They would be closer to their apartments and be able to unload the groceries. Amherst Meadows Commons doesn't serve food. It's very independent. You're very much on your own. The common areas were nice. It was large. They had different activities going on all the time. My parents' apartment was small, but I think all of them were small. It was only a one-bedroom with a small galley kitchen. It didn't have a shower, and that's one thing we didn't care about. I would rather have a shower for both my parents because they were both handicapped. I bought them a chair that they could slide in and out, which they used, but the bathroom was small. Nevertheless, it was very reasonable because the apartment wasn't that expensive, so they were happy with it.
