The Best Nursing Home Communities in Walker County, AL

"The facility takes excellent care of my grandfather. They have a lot of activities that he is involved in there and that keeps his mind occupied. He and the other patients get along great and help each other out. The center is always clean when I go there and the environment seems to be very sterile. I enjoy going there to visit with my grandfather and the other patients; the staff is very welcoming to me and my family. Sometimes we attend Sunday morning services with the staff and patients. The staff seems to enjoy working there; I've never seen anyone there who did not cheerfully help the patients. I think this is a positive for the hiring staff and their judgement in personnel matters. The happier the employees are, the less likely the employee will abuse the patients. Overall, it has been a pleasant experience considering we had to place my grandfather there. I feel that he is getting the care and help that he needs. "

"My husband is staying in Ridgewood Health Services for rehab. They do exercises and walking, and they have some exercise machines and some cognitive exercises. The staff has been nice. The facility seems to be clean. The one he's in has bigger rooms, and they're roomier. The food is adequate. It's good. My husband's diabetic, and some of the stuff is not good for diabetics, as far as the food. I guess they can't accommodate special needs."

"My father is staying in a nursing home called Cordova Health and Rehabilitation. They help him with everything. He has declined fast, and he is bedridden, so they do everything. They're a skilled nursing facility. The staff members have been very helpful and very attentive to him and his needs. My father was kind of rolling out of the bed, but they had done everything that they can to protect him. I've been happy with them. The facility itself is older but it's clean. My father's room is outdated but clean. It's served its purpose. It is a shared room, so it's not a private room, but he's the only one in there. The place hasn't been updated and some things were broken and hadn't been fixed. But that's not important to me because they take care of my father. It's very expensive but they're doing everything they're supposed to."

"Hendrix Health and Rehabilitation is very well kept and attractive. The staff has been wonderful. My aunt likes it. They have bingo, and they play cards. The room she is in has a shower and a bath. She shares a closet with a roommate, but she has plenty of room. The food is very good. "
