Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation

My ex-husband is at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation. It's not the best place, but the people are nice. It has no cell phone coverage in his room at all, so he can't call out or call in. They say they're remodeling. He is in a private room, and it's nice. The place is clean. It's not dirty, but it's just old. They give him good food, and he's happy with what he gets. They have activities, like bingo and stuff like that.

March 2014 NC State Survey conducted their annual review in this facility in which they received 14 citations, two of which were substantiated abuse allegations on the current Director of Nursing. She has been allowed to remain in the facility in this capacity among the residents. This is alarming and feel that anyone interested in facility have enough information to make the right decision for their loved one. The staff was very nice and very helpful at Sunrise Rehabilitation Center. They gave us good information. We looked at the rooms and some of the areas around. The rooms are nice and seem to be really good. The facility was clean, and I was very pleased with them.

The staff at Sunrise in Nebo were absolutely the best while my father was there. He was an Alzheimer's patient for 4 years until his death and in that entire time he never got a bed sore. That was because the staff was always attentive, even when work loads were high due to flu outbreaks that happened only a few times. Every time we visited, he was well taken care of, clean, fed, and happy. The nurses all knew him by name and us. Even those who had moved on to other positions would stop us in the street to ask how he was doing. So to me that has to be the best level of care possible and just shows how well trained and caring those nurses were. Thanks always to these people!
