I'm currently living in Greenfield Commons. It's not where you have meals or anything like that. My biggest complaint is that I don't have a deck and I'm facing a busy road, so I hear a lot of traffic. They also don't have any activities. You can go to the Senior Center, but it's several miles away, so it certainly isn't close by. What I like most is that they leave you alone. There's not somebody knocking on your door all the time. They just send notes around to everybody if there's something going on. If they want to check something, they'll let you know ahead of time, and that's nice. They are prepared for seniors. They have call buttons. If you feel bad or you get hurt or something, you can let them know. I've never used the call buttons, but I think they probably go directly to the EMT. They also have shuttles that will come and pick you up, and I think their bus service is free. I've never used it because I have a car. They have washer and dryer hookups. They have laundry if you don't have a washer and dryer. Most of my neighbors stay to themselves, but they are very friendly. About upkeep, they're getting better at it. They've replaced the maintenance staff several times, and the management has been replaced once. We are not a care unit, so there's nobody here that provides care, but the managers are reachable if you need them. She is pretty new, but she's coming along and keeps adding things. The physical appearance is beautiful. It's close to downtown and to shopping centers. You can drive, get a ride, or even walk if you're so inclined. Several people have told me they moved here when the place opened about five years ago, and they've stayed ever since. I'm not utilizing a lot of the things that I liked about it because I've mostly stayed to myself. The bathroom has bars and higher toilets. It was built with older people in mind. The kitchen has a stove and a refrigerator. There's air conditioning and windows. There is a dishwasher, too. There's not too much community, and that's part of my complaint. I'm kind of a shy person, so I need a little more encouragement to join in. They have an exercise room that is self-use. They don't have any classes at all. They have an elevator.
