Our residents range in age from mid-70s to over 100, with the average age of 85. Some of our residents prefer to watch TV or read in their rooms, but we also have a variety of group activities for different interests, and residents also enjoy our patio and walking areas outside when the weather is nice.

We schedule a variety of activities to meet our residents' interests. Some of these are: exercise groups, different crafts, trivia and bingo games, and sing-alongs. Our meals are planned by a dietitian and are all prepared in-house by our own cooks. We try to spice things up with local flavors such as salsa and green chile, and enjoy holiday favorites such as tamales and posole. We have the ability to modify meals as needed if a resident needs softer-textured food and we can accommodate just about any likes and dislikes with the menu options available to us.

Our homes have full fire alarm systems, including smoke and heat detectors and pull boxes at each exit. Our exit doors are locked each evening for the safety of our staff and residents. We also have chimes on each exit door so that staff can monitor when residents or visitors enter or leave the building.
How does BeeHive Homes of Edgewood keep residents' families informed about their loved ones?
During the COVID pandemic, our families and residents have really missed not seeing each other. We've helped them stay in touch by using phone calls and video visits and even outdoor visits on our patio, maintaining proper social distancing. Our administrator and owner keep in contact with residents' families using videos to keep them updated on developments with COVID.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at BeeHive Homes of Edgewood during daytime and nighttime hours?
During the day time we have two caregivers, our house manager and a cook all on duty to meet the needs of our 15 residents. Two caregivers stay through the evening hours to serve dinner and assist residents getting ready for bed, and one caregiver is awake and on duty through the overnight hours.

We welcome small pets as long as the resident and family can take care of their needs. There are sidewalks and patio areas outside for recreation and pet needs. To comply with state regulations, we must have records of current immunizations for any pets.

Our caregiving staff receives training on medication administration, resident rights and safety and resident care upon hire, and ongoing training monthly on other topics related to our residents' needs. These topics include resident rights, dementia care, resident nutritional needs, resident safety, and medication training.
