My mom has been in BeeHive Homes of Edgewood for three years and my dad has been there for two years. Overall, it has been a very, very good experience. They have really done well. My mom has thrived there under her circumstances and with my dad, it was a big adjustment at first, but he has really done well there. The majority of the time, the staff is wonderful. The only challenge that we ever experience, and I expect it's probably the same in any other facilities is the turnover. The turnover is always a challenge because consistency helps so much. In the past, my mom always loved participating in the craft activities that they have, and of course, they're limited now because of the Covid issue, but I'm really surprised that the caretaker they have are still trying to do things with them whether it's around the holiday or just other things to keep them interested. I really commend them for taking that on in addition to their very busy normal duties. My dad plays dominoes quite a bit with one of the other residents and he loves that. That has been the thing that has really helped him to survive this quarantine issue that we've gone on. The existing staff that is there right now has been somewhat stable. They also do a great job on the food. I think it's a good value. It's definitely a good choice. We have researched a lot of different places. We have been very pleased with it. I would highly recommend BeeHive Homes.

I went on a scheduled tour at BeeHive Homes of Edgewood with the lady called Barbara there, I believe she's one of the managers. There was about 20 minutes altogether to give me a tour and give me some pamphlets. It's a nice facility. The way it's laid out, the way it's organized, I'm impressed, because it's designed for senior citizens. But at the present time, my wife needs to be at a rehab. I explained to the staff what my wife's needs are, then she took notes and we went through the tour. I like the kitchen and staff and the way things are done. As I was walking around, I saw that everybody is different to the degree of care they need. One was in a wheelchair and she was planted on the back watching TV, one was walking, and as you go by the rooms they wave at you and look like they're in a good mood. I thought the kitchen and the living room area were impressive, the layout was good. You really have to talk to people who live there, but from what I could see, people were happy, and they were not grumpy. Everybody was content. There were people out there visiting. There was like a courtyard between the two facilities they have, and their office was in the middle. There were park benches and people could visit from the outside. If you go inside to visit, like in the room, that's only three times a week. When the time comes, I'll put my wife there.

As of 2016, this location has been under new management. The staff is caring, attentive and very competent. The new management is committed to providing the best quality care possible for their residents and only hire people that share the same vision. They have hired a kitchen manager/chef with years of experience, who actually cares about the resident and their dietary needs and restrictions. The food is always nutritious, well balanced and fresh. The caregivers are genuinely concerned with wellbeing of all the residents, and treat them as if they were their own family members. All bad elements from the previous management are completely gone. This place deserves a second chance. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Bee Hive Homes of Edgewood was OK, but they weren't able to provide all the services my mom needed because she needed more nursing care. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the food was good. The staff was patient and caring.

We moved my mother to the Beehive Homes of Edgewood from another assisted living facility in Albuquerque at the end of February 2016. We have been very pleased with the level of care my mother is receiving at Beehive. We have observed a noticeable improvement in her mental acuity, stability of physical condition, grooming, and overall energy. The staff has been consistently attentive and caring, encouraging her to participate in various activities. We were pleasantly surprised by little craft projects that she completed, never thinking she would be able to do such things just months ago. We have witnessed the gentle and professional manner with which she is carefully and safely guided up from a sitting position. Sores that were attributable to being stationary too long have all healed and not recurred. Often, little things make all the difference in a facility like Beehive. For example, they go down the road to Walmart to pick up prescriptions. They trim mother’s hair and fingernails. They follow a logging procedure to track her dentures. They help her with a nutrition supplement drink whenever they observe a drop in appetite. And, the house manager Elaine keeps us informed of needs and issues on a timely basis. We drop by Beehive almost every week and periodically join the residents for lunch. Without exception, we are always impressed by the patience and compassion that the staff exhibits. Without hesitation, we trust Beehive of Edgewood to provide a caring, comfortable, and safe environment for my mother.

My daughter has been at Beehive Homes for approximately one month, and there hasn't been as problem, as far as I know. It’s in a residential neighborhood, but Edgewood is a small town with probably about 2,000 people, so it’s quiet and fairly close to little areas, ranches, and so on. The rooms seem to be adequate, clean, and well-equipped, and each room has its own walk-in shower and bathtub. The staff people seem to be well-trained, courteous, caring, and responsive. They seem to have good food and take care of the residents, so I don’t have any complaints so far.

My grandmother was a resident at the Beehive Homes of Edgewood before her passing and I felt there to be a number of heartbreaking experiences within her care that I would consider neglectful. I hesitated for some time to write a review, however when I read about a recent tragedy at the facility I felt it important to share our experiences with others. I felt the atmosphere of the Beehive to be unsafe, as the staff seemed to forget to administer medications or follow through with doctors’ orders on a number of occasions. It appeared as if a lot of important information and updates were lost between shift changes. Many of the staff appeared to be untrained in things like rolling patients, changing sheets and understanding dementia. The atmosphere of the facility also came off to me as having staff that were overworked, distracted and overwhelmed; limiting the time and quality of attention they were able to give to residents. During my visits there, I always thought the unfenced property to be of concern for dementia patients. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this facility for elders that need medical assistance or have dementia conditions; it is perhaps a better fit for elders who are able to live completely independently. The only pro in my opinion would be that the facility is clean. I hope the organization takes such feedback into consideration to implement some much-needed changes.

What I like about Beehive Homes is that it is limited to a maximum of 15 people. Everybody has their individual rooms with their own bathrooms, and they let my mother have her cat. The staff is wonderful and she gets good attention. And because it is small, all the residents get personal attention. All of their residents get together in the dining area for all of their meals, so it's a lot like living at home rather than in a facility. Their dining facility is excellent. They have a chef there, and all the meals are very good. They keep the residents pretty busy. They have someone come in, and they do generic yoga, and they have entertainment come in.

My grandfather was a resident at Bee Hive Homes of Edgewood, NM for the last three months of his life. We could not have found a better assisted living situation for him. Bee Hive's premises are clean and attractive, all of their staff is very friendly and kind and they were helpful in every way they could be. They gave my grandfather the care that he needed as well as the push to be more social with the other residents which I feel benefited him greatly. He was a difficult character to deal with, to say the least, yet they dealt with him in a graceful and kind manner every day for the time that he was there. I have nothing but kind words to say about Bee Hive and I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the Albuquerque are looking for assisted living. I would even recommend it to people further away in northern New Mexico. Even if it meant more of a drive, the quality of service and the kindness there is worth any inconvenience in distance.
