We put my mother in this facility when her at home care went beyond our capabilities. The staff seemed friendly, at first, but i noticed a bit of an attitude on my daily visits and heard an rn say to a cna "She's here, AGAIN!" I noticed an immediate change in my mothers physical and emotional well being. Her health declined, she became nervous and had trouble eating and she stopped speaking altogether. The staff assured me that it was due to moving her in and she would improve. My gut told me otherwise so I walked into the facility late night behind an employee. Much easier than should have been as the majority of workers were watching tv in the den. There were several residents lights on requesting help- they remained on the whole time i was there, the patients unattended. My mother was in dirty sheets and completely unkempt. I put my mothers light on and stood behind the closet door. I was there for over an hour before I finally heard the cna's voices. The closet that held supplies including the adult diapers was next to her room. The cnas were nasty and rudly complaining about the residents, using obscene language all within earshot of my mother! One of them yelled at a gentleman who was calling for help to "shut up and wait." No wonder my mother was too terrified to complain! I removed her from that center that evening. I got a lot of excuses and promises that seemed quite weak compared to what I had seen there.
