I am a friend or relative of a resident

After my grandmother completed a month-long stay in the hospital, it was suggested that she be placed in a nursing home. Her stay would be temporary until they could prepare the house with a hospital bed and medical equipment. After some research, we found that Minor Nursing Center in Sikeston would allow my grandfather to stay in the facility with her. This was one of the stipulations that he had for placing her and we were excited to find out this information. The excitement did not last long, however. Upon arrival, the nursing home assistant who was pushing my grandmothers wheelchair guided her into a door without so much as an apology. The room didn't appear to be as clean as it should have been, the space was very limited and there wasn't even a chair for my grandfather to sit. Before the first night began, we scrambled to get her out of the facility and back into her home. They also offered assistance in finding a hospital bed and equipment to be placed in her home. They did not help in finding the items and we contacted another agency the next day. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Minor Nursing Center and would not recommend the facility to anyone looking for long-term care for a loved one.
