"My father has been a resident of this nursing facility for the past 11 months. He has had several near-death episodes during this time. The quick, knowledgable actions of the staff have been a major reason why we still have him to enjoy today. I have been in the medical field for over 30 years and have never seen a better run, professional nursing center as Clarks Mountain. Every staff member, from nursing, laundry, housekeeping, physical therapy and office staff are very cordial and very willing to help in any way they can. The administrator is very caring, and you know that your loved one is going to be taken care of with the utmost professionalism and best medical care given in a nursing facility. It is difficult to see a loved one have to be placed in a nursing home. But the Clarks Mountain facility is so well run, it gives me the peace of mind to know that Dad is being cared for so well. "

"I HAVE HAD SEVERAL FRIENDS AT THIS CENTER. THE DAYTIME STAFF HAS A BETTER ABILITY TO CARE FOR RESIDENTS THAN THE NIGHT SHIFT CREW. sOME OF THE EMPLOYEES ARE OUT OF WORK FROM THE FLOORING MILL AND CANNOT FIND OTHER EMPLOYMENT. THE TURNOVER IS STAFF HAS BEEN APPALLING. i AM NOT A FAN OF NURSING HOMES IN GENERAL, BUT THIS ONE IS DEFINATELY ONE TO AVOID. "

"The Colonial Home was very nice, clean, and neat, and had spacious rooms. I saw the dining area, and the food was good. The residents looked comfortable in the community. The lady who took me on a tour was very nice. I would recommend this place. "

"I toured Walnut Street Assisted Living. We had an appointment for 2:00, and there was nobody there to show us anything except for one of the aides. Everything was just in disarray. I feel so sorry for her because she was trying to do her best. There was nothing bad about the place. The room that they showed us, the lady had just moved out the day before, and they didn't have it cleaned up and ready, and so the staff was embarrassed. The aide that I talked to was supposed to pass the message on to somebody to be there at 2:00. She apologized, and she said she forgot to tell her, and so that's where that communication fails. It wasn't the aide's fault; she looked terribly overworked. The room they showed us could use a paint job. There were a couple of little holes in the wall that could have been fixed. As far as I could see, with the paint job and fixing a couple of holes, it looked fine to me. The staff showed me the dining room. They had space for watching television. She told me about the laundry room. From what I saw, the facility looked fine. There wasn't anything mentioned about appliances. There wouldn't be any rooms in the room itself. It was a small room, so the size of it was a drawback."

"My mother-in-law has been at Shepherd's View Residential Care Facility for a little while now. It's located about nine miles from where she has lived her entire life, so it kept her close to family, close to people she knew, close to friends, and within the same cultural zone that she's always been. She's had several friends that have gone there. The staff is very personable, friendly, and very helpful. The food has been very good. It has a total of 35 people, so it's not a really huge facility. Everybody kind of knows everybody else. It's very manageable and very personal that way. It has some of the outdoor amenities that other places have, but it doesn't have a covered patio for people to sit out back. Other than that, the furniture is nice, and the carpets are relatively new. The cleanliness is very good, but the amenities are not quite as plush as the other places. It's not nearly as expensive either."
