The Bortz Health Care nursing home located in Lake Orion, Michigan has done an outstanding job with the residents. My grandfather has been a resident there for nine months now and I visit him frequently. The only concern I have with the staff at this Bortz facility is sometimes they are not as attentive as they should be. There has been several instances I have witnessed residents in need of assistance, usually with changing soiled clothing or needing help using the restroom, and staff left them unattended for up to an hour at a time. As an aging adult, it can already be quite embarrassing to lose control of bodily functions, and to be left sitting in it for any length of time adds to that.Aside from that, the facility is quite nice. Staff is extremely friendly and develops close bonds with residents. There are daily social activities that bring the residents together, often including music, games, and parties. Therapy dogs visit frequently, which many of the residents enjoy a great deal. Residents are given options for each meals, and in the event they are not interested in the menu items, staff will take requests.Overall, my grandfathers stay at Bortz has been a wonderful experience. He enjoys the privacy of his room, the staff, the interaction with other residents, and the meals.
