"My father ended up in Sunrise. It had a friendly staff. They take in the entire range of people in assisted living, which has been great for us. My dad was able to be there when he was a little bit more independent, and now that he is receiving hospice care there, he hasn’t moved. We’ve eaten there many times with my dad, and the food was very good with a nice variety. He’s in a studio, everything is in excellent condition, and they cleaned the carpets before he moved in. The rooms are great and very sunny, it looks out on the courtyard with flowers and bird feeders. "

"My family member has been at the Villagio in Broomfield for 18 months. Even though there has been a lot of turnover in staff during that time, things have begun to stabilize and I'm very pleased with the current caregivers and administrative staff. The director has an open door policy which is very helpful. Everyone truly cares about the residents and the facility. The activities for the residents continue to improve with lots of music and activities that include movement and brain stimulation. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. My family member's room is just the right size (there are options) and she has her bird feeder right outside her window. I really like that personal laundry is done in each resident's room. I feel welcomed every time I visit and my family member is treated with love and care. I really like that the Villagio is relatively small and everyone knows each other. That was important to us. We are very lucky to have this facility in Broomfield."

"The staff is excellent and caring. Their facility is new and it is always kept clean. There's no smell at all. They are very receptive to requests. The staff is compassionate and they feel like family. "

"It seemed that the rooms at San Marino Community were real nice. The place is real clean. They were updating the units as they went along if they needed new tile or new carpet. It was kept up real nice and looked well-maintained. The 1-bedroom unit was in good shape and it seemed to be roomy enough. They had all the usual safety features, the pull cord, and plenty of room in the bathroom. They had card night for people to play cards. They had a little movie theater. They had movie night, plus the bus. They had little trips here and there. The staff seemed very friendly. A couple of them said hi as we went by. The only drawback for us would have been that they do not handle Medicaid patients, so if they got Medicaid, they would have to move. "

"I toured Brookdale Arvada. It felt very homey. When you walked in there were people dressed and ready to go. They had a little outing, and they were all anxious and happy to go. It was a small place, so it didn't seem overwhelming for older people who find it hard to get around; it's all on one floor. The hallways were wide. The dining room was very pretty, open, and airy. The rooms were nice. It's an older building, but things were updated. The apartments were clean and neat. Some have carpet, some don't. They have a nice courtyard. They have a really good schedule of activities, including daily exercise classes. They go to places like restaurants, zoos, just all kinds of things that people can do, and I like that, rather than these people having to just sit in the room and vegetate all day. Gina was the girl who gave us the tour. She's a very nice, efficient, young, white lady. She answered our questions. The location was within 15-20 minutes of my brother, so it was conveniently located, and that's why we chose it. Also, it was a little cheaper than some of the other communities."

"I moved into Arbor View Senior Living two months ago, and I'm quite happy. I like the general atmosphere of the place. The people are friendly and the staff. It just feels very homelike. I look out my window and my patio door, and it's like a park. I have huge, huge blue spruce trees. I have a 3-foot square little garden outside my door, and it turns out to be a miniature allium (which I've watched all spring), and I can see a little patch of mountain through the window. The grounds are lovely. The food is good. They are very concerned. It was Memorial Day weekend and my niece came up from Texas. She was helping me get pictures up and that sort of thing and she brought in lunch. I hadn't been out for a couple of days, and the concierge called me and said, "Are you OK?" I said, "Yeah, I'm fine." She said, "I haven't seen you. I just wanted to check and make sure you're OK." I feel like there's a concern for me individually, as well as just meeting my needs. It's a good place to be. They're remodeling the hallways, so that's been a little primitive at this point. They have gotten the halls painted and are progressing. It's a little bit rough from that point of view, but the activities are fun. There's a couple of ladies that I have lunch with frequently. We talk about authors we've read and in particular books that we've enjoyed. There's not all that many people I can do that with, so that gives me a feeling of comfort. I'm doing some exercise classes. When I came in here, I was so weak that getting to the dining room was a struggle. Now, I'm doing three exercise classes a week and just feeling a lot better. It's just exactly what I wanted. It's in Arvada. I can get to my church, and I have friends in the community. I lived in Arvada for 50 years. When I moved in here, my diabetes went nuts; I'm on a very limited diet. There are 25 to 30 residents in the dining room, so there's a lot of happy chatter. One day I decided to have a strawberry spinach salad with chicken was breaded and fried, and I said, "Oh, I can't have that." They said, "We can just fry you a chicken breast." They did that and sliced it. It was just lovely. They accommodate for my needs, as well as my taste. They have lots of choices, particularly for a fairly small facility. They're right on it as far as choices and so forth. We have special meals coming up on holidays, and they do a rather nice thing. The 4th of July was on the Friday before, and that made it possible for us to spend the 4th of July itself with family. All of our holiday meals have been quite elegant and lovely. We had some special food. We had ribs for the 4th of July, then we have the holiday free for visiting with family. They're remodeling the public areas, so it's a bit rough. One whole week, we had paint smell all up and down the hall. It's going to be very nice. The price is half of what I was paying at the other place."

"I went to Jaxpointe Assisted Living Saulsbury Court Memory Care Homes. It's wonderful. It's absolutely beautiful. It's well taken care of, but it is just too expensive. And they're not willing to work with us as far as money wise. I was able to see individual private rooms and double rooms. The whole place was wonderful."
