"My mom is going to move into Beehive Homes of Brandenburg. I thought it was very good. It was clean. The residents seemed happy there. They offered social activities for the residents. The staff who gave the tour was courteous and attentive to the residents. The dining area was small, but it was neat and clean."

"After making it nearly 70 years living independently my great-grandmother finally has had to move to a community that can better care for her. She moved into Oakwood about 3 years ago. The first time I went to visit her I didn't exactly expect to be wow'ed by her living conditions. Most similar places I've been in our area seem to be little more then places to house the sick and dying. The first thing I noticed in Oakwood was the feeling that I was in more of a community instead of a hospital type setting. The main lobby is nicely decorated, the grounds are well kept, and there seemed to be plenty of commons areas with people actually using them playing cards. I didn't find my grandmother bed-ridden in her room but had to use one of the helpful employees roaming the halls to direct me to an area where she and some of her new friends were playing cards. From numerous other wonderful visits I can say that Oakwood Health Campus is definitely leagues above pretty much every other assisted living community in this area. Everything from the staff to the amenities is top notch. "

"My husband is at Heartland Villa Center. Our experience has been fine. The food was the least thing I liked about it. It's just bland and not tasty. The people are great and the care is great. The rooms are very clean. They are cleaning the rooms every single day. It's pretty bright, not cheery, but better than some I've seen. The staff was great. They're very friendly and very knowledgeable. They have a large TV room for gathering, different activities for them to do like bingo and checkers and stuff like that, and physical therapy and occupational therapy. They have a nice park, too. You can take your loved ones out and sit in the shade or they take them outside and play music and everything."

"I'm at The Waters of Rockport. It's only temporary. I wanted it to be long-term, but I make too much for Medicaid and not enough for private pay. What I like least is the food and the best is the level of care. I like the nurses. The nurses keep an eye on you. The CNAs are always there to help. It's very clean. They're always cleaning. They have quite a few housekeepers. They play dominoes, they bring around cats, and they have exercise, gospel singing, music, and church. They have quite a few activities. I'm in a semi-private, and it's not very big for two people."

"I went to Cedarhurst of Owensboro. We visited with Andrea, the customer relations person, and she was very nice. They offer memory care, and they are licensed as a personal care facility. They offer two lower levels of service with some memory care for an extra charge if they need just verbal prompting. Their base price is about $4050 a month. Level one care is only if they need some verbal prompting. Level two is if they need a little bit more hands-on. Their memory care unit is a separate, isolated unit, and that's extra, which is a little pricier. The facility was extremely nice and brand new. The craft room and the meeting rooms were all very well appointed. The dining facility was one of the nicest features. It was restaurant style and they are soon going to a complete ala carte, meaning you order when you go in like a restaurant and they prepare your food to order. That is included in the rent. Meds are given by someone professionally, and that's an extra $250 a month charge, and my mother would need that. They have someone who does the med administration there, but it's not necessarily a nursing home. The apartments were generally one-bedroom and a small living room with a balcony. They're all ground level. They had a walk-in shower and an interior hallway. Even though it's brand new, the price gave you a lot of value because you get your own little apartment, and food is included. They have an activities calendar also with morning devotional and prayer and things like that. They generally have crafts and a happy hour in the afternoon. It's very nice. Since it's new, there's not a lot of landscaping, but the interior courtyard is completely enclosed and safe. They have flower beds there and they do little potting projects. There's not a lot of vegetation yet. It's new construction, but it's very well done. They have a big electric piano in the dining facility and a big coffee bar, probably 20 feet wide. People can sit and have coffee and things during happy hour in the big atrium area. They have a beauty salon and somebody comes in once or twice a week for that."

"My mom is in Owensboro Care Center. It is an old facility. The building itself is probably 60 years old. The rooms are small and cramped. The care overall is lacking. I think they're understaffed. If there was more staff there, my mom would be able to have a diaper change every two hours like they're supposed to do. "

"Rooms are clean daily. If you have anything missing, staff is vey helpful with finding lost items. The staff became our second family and took excellent cate of our mother. Several activities are offered. Ice cream and arts and crafts seemed to be what mom looked forward too. Therapy is excellent. Very friendly and thorough in explaining their goals. The facility offers outings but since Covid, we have been able to set up window visits often. "

"Carmel Home is a bigger, cleaner and newer facility than where my mom is in right now. Their environment was more home-like and it didn't have an antiseptic smell to it when I visited. It was also brighter and the furnishings were newer. Their rooms were bigger. There were also more private areas that you can go and actually visit instead of always having to visit at a nurses station or in a crowded hallway. There was also more individual care there. "

"My sister moved into Wellington Parc of Owensboro. I have no issues with them at all. They were good to her. They did an excellent job. They're very thorough, very friendly, and polite. It was a nice place. It kind of sits upon a ridge or a hill-like. The drive was about five hundred feet, I guess, from the highway. It was really quiet there and peaceful. Most facilities have their meals catered, but they make their own meals, and she loves their food. I talked to her when they were in the activity room, and she liked it."

"My in-laws moved into One Park Place. It's assisted living and they are at enhanced care. They receive 2 meals a day, they give them their meds, they have housekeeping once a week, and they do 2 loads of laundry. They've been there for a month now. Their overall experience is great. The community is great. They're very warm, friendly and kind. The staff is great and very personable. The apartments are very nice and they're wheelchair accessible. They have bingo, they have church, activity rooms to do puzzles and play games, an exercise room, and a nice sitting area where everybody can socialize. The dining room is nice. You can either eat in the dining room or have the food sent to your room. The food's very good and we've not been disappointed with their meals yet."

"I had been homeless for almost 2 years staying in Pitino Shelter I have lived in Roosevelt House only since January 2012, but I couldn't think of a place any better. Before moving here, I had never lived alone and to say I was nervous would be a gross understatement. The staff here were friendly and understanding. The let me know there is someone available 24/7 in case of emergency. If I needed to talk to a staff person, they were there available to help...and if there is a problem, to get it corrected as quickly as possible. If there is a maintenance problem, they are there very shortly after you report it. There are activities in both buildings almost everyday if you want to take part in them or just watch. They distribute a calendar page every month with most of the activities on them. I would (and do) highly recomendn anyone to live here. "

"Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center was a really nice nursing home, but it's not built specifically for the memory impaired. My sister was there for rehabilitation, and she got excellent care. She was there for therapy, so she was only there for 30 days. They did an excellent job with her. It's in an older setting at Owensboro. It's really nice there on West Parrish Avenue. It's beautiful, with lots of really tall trees, and it's been there for a while. It was already there when I was in high school. It's located right next to a high school. It's old, but well-kept. They've done a great job taking care of her and doing therapy with her. There were also really good meals, and the personal care was excellent. It was a great experience for her."

"The staff at Heritage Place was very friendly, and they seemed very caring about their residents. The residents were very friendly. They seemed to have adequate staffing, and they had activities going on for the residents. I spoke to a couple of people that live there and they're very happy about it. They all had positive remarks. The place was clean and we're very pleased. The room had a small kitchenette area, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. When you walk in the door, beyond that was a small place with a table. And then beyond that was a small living area for a small couch and a television. The bathroom was handicap accessible, and then there was a bedroom, which was an appropriate size for a queen size bed. They have a salon and an exercise room. The facility was very well-kept. I've been in touch with the staff for several weeks now, asking for follow-ups and updates on Dad, and everything about how he's doing in rehab. They're great."

"Beehive was close to home. They were really great. Everybody was really nice. It's an extremely clean place. It's new and only been like a couple of years. The rooms were really nice, too. The staff was great and everybody was really friendly and attentive to my aunt. The food was delicious. They have crafts, storytelling, and they have quite a bit of stuff to keep the residents busy. "

"My sister moved into Dogwood Retreat and it's very good so far. They are kind, caring, professional, clean, and trustworthy. They do what they say they're going to do and you can count on them to remind the residents to take their medication on time, they don't steal, and they don't bully.
